I was digging through the basement of my house which is stuffed full of old stuff. While digging through I found these guys. They are Wilson brand - they say Custom - They say "Ed 'Porky' Oliver" - The wood wedges have B4250 - The irons say 1002. I really have no idea what I am looking at but I am hoping you all can help out.

Do you know the year? Are they worth anything more then the nostalgia? They are in pretty good condition from what I can tell. Any information would help, or even suggestions on a better place to find the information I need?

Thanks!

Ed won like 8 times on the tour back in the 40's - 50's.

Couldn't find anything on the irons but Fleebay had a putter with his name on it for 4.99.

Sorry but I don't think they are gonna fetch many $$$

Unless they’re in mint condition, most old golf clubs don’t seem retain much value over time. There are exceptions for certain items that have become collectible, and some brands seem to depreciate slightly less than others, but by-and-large old clubs can be had pretty cheaply on eBay. I’ve purchased several sets of old Wilson staff irons, all in good condition and one in near-mint condition, and haven’t paid more than $100 for any of them

This pretty much sums it up. If you can document a club as actually being used by a player, or if it is one of the especially collectible items, is the only way they are worth much. I have a bunch of persimmons and blades that I bought for $3-5 per stick. If you like golf décor, clean them up and use them in your man cave or office.

    • Great post, thanks for the informaiton. I try to avoid adding salt to anything I eat. I tend to add pepper on to my meals as opposed to salt. And I am trying to eat as clean on possible. On golf day, I eat 3 eggs for breakfast (pepper NO salt) and a salad for lunch, with grilled chicken thigs (pepper, garlic, no salt). I have been trying to avoid processed food, but we all slip. I also should have mentioned that the electrolyte packet calls for mixing with 16 oz of water, however I mix in 32 oz of water, so I dilute the electrolyte powder.
    • So if I read the news correctly, the PIF will not fund LIV after this season.  LIV is trying to find new funding and a number of players there are now asking about getting back to the Tour.    I am very, very concerned that Taylor Gooch will not have a place where he can make a jackass out of himself soon
    • It is a known technique, similar to the armed forces box technique. They use a 4x4 , in through the nose and out through the mouth. I use it to go to sleep fairly often. It works for me
