I've been Playing Golf for: 5 years
My current handicap index or average score is: ??
My typical ball flight is: Medium trajectory and very light draw.
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: I used to play as a kid (9,14) i was a decent golfer then. I got bored easily but i could hit the ball pretty well. From 14 to 30(My current age) i played 1 round  of golf until the other day a friend that is learning to play invited my to play with him. I felt that i hit the ball pretty well and scored an 81. I was pretty happy about it and i have been driving to the driving range everyday since then. Today my friend took some videos of my golf swing and as i am trying to get back into the game it would be nice if some more experienced golfers could tell me there honest opinion on the things they think i should do to improve my golf swing.

Not a single comment, Did i do something wrong ?.

That face-on swing isn't a real speed swing, is it? Doesn't seem like it.

No you didn't do anything wrong, but this is directly from the rules of the "Member Swings" section:

"As a general note, people are more willing to give advice and help to people they know, so please, try to participate in other sections of the site. Get to know people and let them get to know you a little bit. You'll get more feedback and advice in your "My Swing" thread and make some online buddies in the process."

And you didn't really answer the question of what your miss is or what shot you are trying to eliminate. When you played that round and have been hitting at the driving range, what do your mishits look like? Are they over draws/hooks? Do you occasionally hit it too fat, too thin? etc.

I would try filming again with the correct angles with a full swing. Make sure you align along the toe line for the Down the Line view and waist high. For the face, have it aiming waist high at the center of your stance.

Are you sure you haven’t played in 15 years?

I wish my swing looked that good after taking a decade off.

Looks on-plane to me. I’m not good enough to give advice to you...and I don’t suck

Thank you very much. When i was a child i used to live just yards away from the golf club and i played all day(did terrible in school). Life changed and i became a mathematician and right now work as a teacher in university. and it became very costly to play golf regularly. I will try to play at least once a month because i really like the game but for the time being i bought a golf net and rmotion golf simulator to practice my swing. This are some videos i took today and i was hitting the ball pretty well.

What app are you using? I would check your calibration.

Your numbers are very, very high for a 6-iron. The average PGA swing speed for a 6-iron is 92MPH. It's 113MPH for a driver. Also, your sidespin numbers seem suspicious.

I am using the Rmotion app . I am sure it is not perfect but here in Mexico City i used to hit my 6 iron 200 yards so its not that far at least in distance. How do i calibrate it ?

Thank a lot mate 🙂

At sea level i usually played the 6 iron at 190 yards

Not sure how you calibrate. Not questioning the distance, just the swing speed. At that speed, you'd be swinging a driver as fast/faster than anyone on the PGA tour.

I also don't believe the swing speed , the strange thing is that I think the simulator most be using the swing speed to calculate the distance and i find the distances to be correct or a little bit short.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
