Hi all

Ok so I've been practicing my pitching,  found its much more consistent if I shift my weight to my left side at address and keep my weight there.

Now I've got myself in a muddle so need some advice please!

When the pros / coaches say to shift your weight to left side at address - do they mean you actually lean your whole body to the left side. Or keep body straight and just feel like you're putting weight on your left foot?

Do I visibly lean my body ( sometimes I hook or slice like this as it's making me open my stance by accident)  - or just lean my straight body onto left side please?

Thanks

Hi thanks for the reply.  My question is solely about keeping weight on left side - for chipping and pitching.  Do I lean my body,  knees, waist,  shoulders,  head etc?

Or just lean my weight without leaning my body - that's what Is confusing me!

You push your hips slightly towards the target while keeping your head centered, which creates a little bit of tilt in your spine when viewed from face on.

Get in address position with your head centered between your feet and weight distributed 50/50 between your feet. Now shift your weight to your left about 60-65% while keeping your head still centered. You'll feel more pressure on your left foot and less on your right, that's what you're looking for. Keep your weight on that front foot as you pivot.

I actually don't mind if the head goes forward a little bit too, the right shoulder comes up or "stays high" too, etc. No axis tilt away from the target is needed.

The "leaning your weight" without moving any portion of your body to the left intrigues me.

I slide my hips slighty toward the left.  That moves some weight with it.

    • Day 58: night putting session for about an hour. Started with lag putting and ended with putts inside 9’. I need to work on putts from 6-12’, but in a solid spot overall.
    • Birdied a different #6 today (incidentally, also a par-5, but not the same one on which I previously birdied).  Here's the funny thing though:  it's the par-5 that caused me to post my "how do I avoid bogeys?" on par-5s recently.  So I guess I still haven't parred that hole.
    • Day 20, May 24.  Played 18 today, very poor ball driving.  One GIR, and it was a 4-wood from the rough.  Several other instances of hitting a green on a full swing (and at least one full swing motion -- a 50% UW) that wasn't for GIR.   Still shot an 87 and even had a birdie (chip-in).
