Join club, get official handicap (which will be 25-30 I'm sure), shoot consistently in the 90s.

I carry an F8 3 and 5h, albeit both are the one length variety. I hit both equally very good, from fairway to tall stuff, and I'm a high handicapper.

Precision Pro. I have the NX7, it was $199.The pro version is $249, has slope built in, personally I'm not good enough for that to matter so went with the mid-range model. You also get free battery replacement for life.

You and I sound alot alike. I can get from the tee to the green just fine, but it's just too many bad shots, bad drives, bad chips, chucked 40yd wedges, 3 putts that kill my score. I've quit keeping score several times after a few holes. And last week I quit altogether on the 5th hole. I shot a 43 on 9 a few weeks ago, which is by far my best 9 ever, but subsequent 9s there have been 47, 47, 53, and today 50. I hit the ball pretty good I feel, just too make mistakes in the short game is mostly what ruins my scores

I'm on an alternating cycle of couldn't hit the ball much better one day to couldn't hit it much worse the next. Last week shot a 43 on 9 holes, by far my best 9 this year. I don't think I could have hit the ball much better, driver or irons. Lost a few shots around the green and a cpl 3 putts, but 43 is a terrific 9 for me. Literally the next day, went to play 9 somewhere else, and it was like my first time out. Fat shots, topping it, driver was wildly erratic. Nothing went right. In fact I ended up quitting on the 5th hole I was so frustrated. Nevermind Id lost 10 balls off the tee. I hate golf. But I'll probably play later today.

I admit I don't really know the rules when it comes to lost balls or balls going in hazards. I've only ever played recreationally so I never really learned how/where to actually drop with a lost ball. The way I and playing friends have always done it is ball is lost, drop near where it went out, 1 stroke penalty, play on. But I'm not sure this is even accurate. Next year I want to get an actual handicap and play in my work league, so I will need to know what to do in these situations. So today I was playing by myself. Hit driver, had 110yd to the hole, was on a big up slope. Hit my GW and it went sailing, over the green, down the hill behind the green, into a waste area (circled). It is just weeds and tree branches and brush there. I spent a few minutes looking, then just dropped a ball right at the edge of the grass in front of this waste area, took a 1 stroke penalty, and played on. Was this appropriate I'm sure most of you can't believe a person doesn't even know what to do in these situations, but it's true. And I've Googled these things but when I read I stuff like drop near where the point it crossed the margin keeping the hole between you and blah blah blah, I have no idea what it's talking about.

This has to be a joke. This sounds like me when I was 12yr old saying I was going to move to Germany and play top level soccer when I was old enough. I was good for the ppl I played with, but did not even have the skill to play for an NCAA team. I did have a scholarship for an NAIA school though, so yes, I had game, but not good enough to play top tier soccer. The guy said his putting sucks, his short game sucks, his wedge game sucks, he's wild off the tee.... And he thinks he's going to play professionally?

My assumption the OP was talking about are ppl that claim to average way above what they actually average. Not one offs, not 2x a round, but 8-10x they hit the ball X-yards. I will say that being fairly new here and at another forum, I see tons of ppl claim to hit it 300+ off the tee. Never in my life have I played with anyone that hit its anywhere near that. Now, I haven't played the amount of golf alot of you have but over 20yrs off and on, hundred of rounds, I've never seen anyone hit it I'll say over 270 for average. Yes, I also have driven the green once, over in fact, on a 340ish yard par 4. There was probably a 20-25mph tail wind and the fairways were dry and short. But I've never bragged that I can hit hit 300+. My average is 225.

To start the year I had a set of Taylormade Burner Plus irons I bought new in 2011 ( believe those were 2009-10 models). Only used then maybe 30-40 rounds. Moved states in 2012, had not played since I moved. I also had a set of Adams irons laying around that I never used that was my first real set in 2009. I gave those to a very good friend of mine who had a set that wasn't even as good as the Adams irons. Decided to upgrade to Taylormade M2 (2016 model) this year. I gave the Burners to the same guy I gave the Adams irons too 😂 Played the M2s for a few months but really wanted to get one one length irons. In the mean time I bought a new Taylormade M2 driver (2017) to replace my old Burner draw driver. About a month ago I bought some Cobra F8 OL irons. I then bought an F8 driver. I sold the M2 irons and driver as a set. Took about a $200 hit but oh well. And, also bought my friend a set of F8 OL at the same time (I got an unbelievable deal). Then sold his Burner irons for $100. The Adams clubs are still around, his wife is using them 🙂 Oh, and the Burner driver, friend is now using that. His other driver broke. So I sell and donate.

I used to think I averaged about 240-250 roll out. I'm a high handicap, don't have an official one but it would be probably close to 30. I figured 240-250 was pretty average for most amateurs that were semi athletic and played occasionally. I assumed ppl that played alot more and had mid-teen caps probably drove 270ish+. I just sort of guess-timated my driving average based on distance to the hole from tee to approximate distance left. Never been on a launch monitor to get numbers of any kind. Several weeks ago I bought a set of Cobra F8 clubs which have accros sensors in them. Come to find out I am averaging 223 with a long of 252. So I was well under what I thought. I was happy to see that my 5i (actually 5h) averages more than I thought. I'd thought my 5 went 150-60. Averaging 180.

This is a frequent issue. Some rounds its money, other rounds its busted. I keep pulling it out, figure eventually it'll get better. Generally it doesn't til I go to the range the next few days after and magically it's back. Like with most of my clubs I seem to forget what works sometimes. I *feel* like I'm doing all the right things but the shots aren't good. Then when I get to the range and sort it out I know what I was or wasn't doing. So weird.

Bought one after reading a TON of reviews. Seemed that there were more positive than negative, so I took the chance. Took it to the range on a nice, clear, calm day. The readings were all over the place. One shot with a 6i registered 135yd, the next hit virtually the same said 168yd. Hit my driver, said it was used 200, which was totally impossible. Had many more similar discrepancies, sent it back for a refund. Considered a Mevo, but $500. Ouch.

Ordered a F8 tour length a week ago, delivered yesterday, took it to the course today. Never having hit it before I had one of my best driving games in a long, long time. It wasn't really longer than the M2 I had, but it was definitely much, much easier to find the fairway.

Currently Taylormade M2. Making switch to a Cobra F8, ordered, waiting for it to arrive.

Taylormade M2 '17. Although I want to get a Cobra F8 tour length really bad, I just bought the M2 a month ago. :/. Probably have to wait til next season when the price comes down.

I'm sure this is a long shot.... Bought direct from Taylormade. Have had this driver a cpl weeks, used it 2 of 3 rounds and at the range a few times. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just switched to Cobra irons and would like to give that F8 a try. The M2 is standard/stock and I generally choke down an inch+. Looking for the tour length F8 because it's 1.25" shorter than standard. Head cover and tool

Can I vote twice? 😂 I've just bought my second set of irons this year without being fit. I bought some 2016 TM M2s back in March/April. My other clubs where 10yr old and I felt that the gain in tech was worth the purchase. And now I just bought some Cobra F8 OL.

Have spent thousands of dollars at RBG (including new M2s this year), never one issue. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't make them a bad company. Btw, ever think it was your bank requesting verification, not RBG?

Never was a fan of buying used, but opted for some "nearly new" or "excellent" (forget the classification) Cleveland wedges at Rock Bottom a few months ago since I'd already spent way more than I should have in new equipment this year already. They had very minimal wear, just a few marks, and were about half the cost of new. I'll definitely look at used again next time I buy clubs.

Have broken 100 many times (never 90), but hadn't played since 2011 until this year. Shot a 98 last week, my low round of the year (sadly) I've had 1 eagle in my life.

We must be related. I can go to the range and hit great shots all day. Get on the course and my irons are crap. I guess it's the fact that on the range it doesn't mean anything. On the course I'm aiming at a particular spot or trying to hit the green and there is a score attached to it. Very frustrating. I played yesterday, very difficult course, lots of water, lots of sand, lots of blind tee shots, lots of blind 2nd shots, lots of dog legs, shot a 112 😏 first 6-7 holes were all double, triple bogey, it was a nightmare. Wasn't hitting my irons good at all. By the time I got to 10 I was hitting my driver very good, high, straight, right down the middle of the fairway. And while I wasn't great with my direction I was making good contact on my 2nd shot at least. Generally a 112 would make me hate life and hate golf, but at the end I actually felt pretty good because I was hitting the ball solid. I do the same thing. If I go OB I'll just drop near where it did, take my penalty, and go on. I say that 99 is legit.

I've always and only every used a 10.5. I've never been fitted for anything, I just buy off the shelf and go. My driver is old, like 9yrs old, TM Burner Draw. I hit it fairly good, of course I have plenty of slices and hooks since I'm not a good player. In fact I bought the draw variation years ago to fight the slice as much as I could. By my eye, I get a good launch trajectory with the 10.5 , and an average drive is 240-50. Been debating a new driver for weeks, but I've bought so much new stuff already this year I kept telling myself no. Yesterday I was at Golf Galaxy and they had a TM M2 2017, 10.5* used. I grabbed it and hit a few balls in the hitting booth. I didn't get on the launch monitor but the ball was coming off the club very good, very straight, and I liked it. Of course that made me start looking around at used M2s online last night, since new is still $300. Found one, ordered, but it was a 12*, and also not the d type. I'd already read up on 12 VS 10.5 a while ago and most stuff l saw said 12* generally gives you more control. How many others have gone from 10.5 to 12 with great results?

I was hesitant to buy used, especially since I couldn't actually see the clubs, but in the future, as long as I stick in that "almost new" tier, I would definitely buy used again to save money. Congrats on the 1st place tie.

Probably too late to help, but I bought some used Cleveland RTX 3 CB wedges from rock bottom golf a few weeks ago. I forgot which rating they were, "excellent" or "like new", one of those and yes, those 2 are different on their site. They showed virtually no wear at, we're $55 each.
