  1. We have a "Top Golf" in the Kansas City area............ Everyone in my office knows I play and they always ask me about it. They are semi-in shock by my response. No....I don't do that sh$t.......I like to play golf. (no relation to top-golf) I tee it up on a real course...............avoid the side shows..
  2. I lived in Columbus Ohio in the 90s when Ben Curtis and Kyle were the top youth/AM golfers in the area/State of Ohio. So I do get a kick out of seeing either of them when they do well.....as a fellow Buckeye and all, it only figures.
  3. Has tiger withdrawn from The Masters yet?
  4. Funny stuff...thanks for sharing! I enjoyed reading many of the comments............. My 2 cents in this day. This was a late FEB.....early march round of golf.....getting a rain-check is not a factor because I have a membership. I am liable to require a "Snow-Check" if I come back if you know what I mean!!! The KEY FACTOR....this is a late winter day and I haven't played for 4 months....and temps were in the 70s. What am I to do? .......go home and come back tomorrow when it's 38 degrees? LOL........ Yes...I stuck it out, but it was awkward. Weird...in spite of the rust and high winds, I carded an 81 that day. With all things considered.....I could have done a lot worse.
  5. I do turn 50 this year, but that still doesn't matter. Those guys competing on a national stage are 10000000000 times better. I normally finish each year with a 0-2 index.....but I am a 4-5 in may. LOL
  6. He knew he won the tourney after the first strike in the10th....the rest was academic........ If you watch him bowl, he could be bowling a 150 or a 300 and you'd hardly know by his reactions to it. When he sat down in the seat after his third strike in the 10th well after he buried his opponent, he looked to the side and revealed a small "smirk" ..he was looking at his mom in the gallery.......... that is about as much emotion as he shows ever...LOL I give him credit because he's steady.......good or bad....he stays on an even keel. With that said,I won't be playing golf this weekend because I'll be sitting in a bowling alley all weekend watching the youngster compete. It's all good though......no complaints. I currently bowl in 3 leagues..LOL......and my son got me started!!!! We bowl through April....and then golf kicks into high gear for me. By then my sons tourney schedule will be dying down so this will free up my weekends.
  7. With my game, I have a one in 1,000,000 chance of advancing beyond the first qualifying stage........this is why I was highly entertained by the.... 'HEY...come sign up!"....email request. It's all good! As the state of my game is today, I would be happy to break 80. LOL..... GHIN doesn't activate until March 1st in Missouri.....I have two official GHIN rounds posted in 2017....81-85....Yea, sign me up for the open! LOL that was my point...being facetious....
  8. I was able to play last saturday........... this is about as bad as "physically possible" as I can play.........I carded an 85. Hey...............it's early and I wasn't even that upset. It's early and I was more than happy to post my 2nd official round into the GHIN system.......... The way I see it...I want to get 20 in.......build the CAP to whatever it is....then whittle it down. I will get down to the .0..........I lost weight and feel good.
  9. Yea.......haha....thanks David for reminding me!!! With that said, I am sooooooooo looking forward to playing golf again, but it's on the back burner for me for now. My son is 14 and in a few years he will be gone and off to college. For now, following his bowling tournament schedule is first priority!!! I am not a bowler......he got started on his own!!!!!!! I am a bowler now, but Colby got me started. I bowl in 3 leagues a week now, and my son kicks my ass.......LOL.... He bowled a 5 game sweeper last weekend and averaged 253...he has real potential. Im a 210'ish league average....and he's 220+ and rising. 15 and under.....Colby is one of the top bowlers in the country. Good golf weather?...what?...I was probably watching bowling!!!!......if you know what I mean?.....it's fun times though....it's all good. When he goes to college....my golf game will prosper.............. I have 2kids and my daughter is grown and already moved out full time sooner than expected. I still have my son for a few more years and my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying traveling the country so he can bowl. In a few weeks...we go to Texas...so he can compete in a big field. this summer....we will be at Nationals....In Cleveland. This is the world we live in.....no complaints. I am a BUCKEYE!!!!!...................... I promise you I will play golf with at least 1-2 old friends from 20 years ago while being in Ohio during he summer. We plan to go to Cedar Point.....the ultimate roller coaster park..............LOVE THAT PLACE!! When I was a kid, I had a season pass for about $45........today a day pass is about $160? Hell...I don't even know!! Hahaha Colby...........rolling the rock.......he makes it look easy...........this is why he's one of the elite youth bowlers in the country.... This was his first win beating a host of college age kids in a regional multi-state tourney............................as a 14 year old. As his DAD.............that was fun to WATCH!!! The Elite bowlers make stringing strikes....one after the other look easy.....and make their spares. Not that bowling is a profession to make good money, but he is a top prospect.
  10. He's only 14, but competes nationally.......fun stuff. I'm sure you've all seen the video clips. I can't resist posting them........LOL

    My Kid Bowls

I had to delete the above...............just saying. My kid doesn't need what I posted up there....just saying.
  12. I think he was a D-Bag..................my evaluation after18 holes.
  13. I am ready to sign up for the US Open.........................LOL

  15. You know the wedge needs replaced when............ This was a 56deg wedge, and it's last strike was a GIR on a full shot!! I didn't see the ball land on the green because I was distracted by the clubhead tumbling forward down the fairway. lol
  16. 50% GIR is more realistic for a scratch golfer. Maybe I read your comment wrong, but a 20hc hit's nowhere close to 50%Gir. My best advice to smash through that 20HC/bogey golfer zone is to play more than once/twice a week. Do that, and it's difficult not to play better.
  17. I suppose I don't keep up with golf retailing because I never shopped at Golfsmith, but it saddens me that dicks bought this company becaus I refuse to shop at Dicks at least for clubs. Their selection is a disgrace and they never have anything in stock that I need/want so I never even look at their clubs. I will buy clothing/shoes at Dicks so at least there is that....LOL
  18. Hahaha....been there done that!! In all honesty....playing low runners isn't even necessarily the answer. It's all about judging he bounce and playing short of the green when possible and getting the bounce you hoped/predicted. I love the sound that ball made in the video above!! I can relate because I have played in those frozen conditions many times!!
  19. My home course has GPS in the carts and I hardly pay attention to it. LOL..... Only on rare occasions... The only time I even bother to look at a GPS reading is on the rare occasion when I have a long carry over a hazard for a 2nd shot on a par5 and I am too lazy to shoot it with my laser when a "ballpark" yardage is good enough. 95% of the time.....I opt to use my laser to get my yardages.
  20. Please folks...don't be this guy. Unreal.... I paired up with this guy recently while we are still in "Winter Golf" mode. The day in question was a beautiful 70+ degree day in the middle of winter with 20-30mph winds. It's a given.....Ok, it's still winter and the wind is howling....this may be a rough day for scoring and nobody in my part of the country has played much golf over the past few months anyway!!!! We get it.....there will be some rust and bad results!!! I paired with this CLOWN that admittedly had RUST like all of us, but he proceeded to curse and throw clubs after every bad shot! You've got to be kidding to me!??? IT IS WINTER!! This guy was like a cartoon character of a real person!!! He proceeded to throw clubs violently on nearly every hole, smash clubs into the cart, and I felt unsafe on several occasions due to being in a near proximity!! He broke no fewer than 3 clubs on this day...... what is with this idiot? Not only that, but he left an "IDIOT" mark in the green!!!!!! For you wondering what this is???........this is taking a wild swing at the ball after it misses the hole with a putter to smack it away off the green....and taking a divot from the green in the process. This clown made me cringe all day long. Painful to watch and be part of...and I felt unsafe at times too. I was too close for comfort and was worried I'd catch a piece of shaft or broken cart plastic when he was venting frustration.....I hate playing with this kind of person more than anything else. On a brighter note...at least he wasn't slow!!!! Rant off!!!!!....please discuss!!
  21. Goose....get a laser. Apps are bullsh!t..........If you want to know real yardages, there is no substitute.
  22. Roberts is annoying at times........FYI.. "These go to 11"...cracks me up! hahahaha
  23. We've had a few weeks of mild weather here in KC........already plenty of 70 degree days. It's been freezing and we had a dusting of snow/ice on the roads today and people forget how to drive. Going into the office today.....I passed no less than 5 accidents. JHChrist people....pay attention and get your heads out of your BUTT!!!! This isn't the first time you've driven on slick roadways!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I don't have big goals...first and foremost is to have fun. for me...if my game doesn't get worse.....I am a happy person.
  25. I am here posting this message to give hope to those that have lost hope for getting to another level....................... I didn't start playing golf until I was grown (I caught the bug at age 24) in the early 1990s. I was a recent college grad/newlywed that got "CONNED" into playing golf with co-workers. I was hooked........ I mostly scored easily in the 100s+ that first year. I can remember early-on carding a 116 and thinking....."Not bad!". LOL I gave up staying out all-night to go night-fishing on the weekends to play golf, so my wife was quite agreeable to me playing golf. By the end of my first year, my low round was 93. Year 2........ I was consistently in the 90s.......and getting consistent in the 80s by year end. Year 3........ I was consistant in the80s and carding 70's when I played well...............I was already an 8-10HC by year 3. Year 4....I recorded my first official GHIN HC.... 8'ish+ HC golfer for nearly a decade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave up hope that I would ever get better, but for you hopeful golfers out there.....DO NOT LOSE HOPE!!! After nearly a decade, I did breakthrough.....a couple times. I was an 8-10HC in 1996 and was still an 8-10HC in 2002. The dates are a little fuzzy now, but I was able to knock through a few brick walls. I kept at it, and suddenly started crashing through barriers. By the mid 2000s...I was a 4HC.....and I got to scratch in 2012. DO NOT LOSE HOPE.........anyone can do it!! Of course I have backed off since then, but I don't play as much as either..............good luck!!
