Martin Chuck - Elevated Platform Practice Aid
JxQx replied to nevets88's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
It seems like all the things listed aren’t really benefits. I mean there shouldn’t be fear in hitting the ground, especially with an iron. Floating the golf ball almost reinforces that fear by not allowing the person to get used to the feel of the club going through the turf and how to correct for it accordingly. -
I don’t think I’ve heard/read an actual good argument that distance is an issue. It seems like all the people arguing that is a problem, don’t want to come to terms with the fact that par doesn’t matter in tournament golf.

That’s crazy. I’ll put something together a little later to send. I’m not sure how much pressure you would like to put on the situation but it may be worth while to send to a larger news organization like golfchannel or elsewhere. It could force the PIAA to correct the problem since it would reach a ton of people. Plus it could lead to some exposure to college golf coaches.

I think some of that is brought up in their conversation (from what I recall).

Things That Take Almost No Talent to Do Correctly
JxQx commented on iacas's blog entry in Instructional Droplets
Tier 1: Start a daily stretching routine. People always talk about fitness but often neglect stretching/flexibility. Not only will positively impact your golf game it also will help you feel better in your day to day life. -

I was just thinking about this the other day and am going to play my next solo round with a half bag to see how I play. I’ll probably play with Driver, driving iron, 6i, 8i, pw, sw, putter.

Your Mind Doesn't Understand "No"… Or Does It?
JxQx replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I disagree because people bail out on shots all the time. Don’t hit it left, block or slice right. Don’t hit it thin, end up flubbing the shot. Don’t leave this putt short, blast a putt 6 feet past the hole. -
Forgiving Irons Without Strong Loft?
JxQx replied to barnum1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Go get fit. Loft shouldn’t really matter as much as ball flight characteristics (launch, spin, etc) and gapping. Any good fitting should have a gapping session which will layout how far you hit each club and determine if that’s playable for you or not. -
Just purchased a weight kit for my Edel putter and got some new head covers for my driver and 3 wood. Hopefully will be getting some new Edel wedges in the near future.
-
For me it’s my wedges at the moment, my chipping has been god awful. I’m hoping driving ranges open here soon so I can get fitted to replace them.

I used mine for the first time today in about a year, I didn't really run into any issues besides their apple watch app constantly closing.

Today while playing I dunked a shot today from about 40 yards out. It hit the flag stick then hit the foam in the cup and bounced about 10 feet past the hole.

They recently opened courses here in New York with some provisions like no carts and other social distancing measures. One of the bigger changes is all transactions need to be online, unfortunately for me I won’t be able to play for a bit because I usually play as a single and almost all courses here do not allow for booking as a single.

I picked up an M1 3 wood and some tees.

Yeah, I was fit by @iacas at the end of February.
-
An Edel putter and an Taylormade M1 Driver.

Saw this scrolling through Facebook. Does this mean they are getting rid of the classic fit line? Hopefully they aren’t.

I think it’s fine to wear a hoodie. I don’t care what people wear on the golf course.

Last Friday I was finally able to go get fit for an Edel putter. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for the past few hears but haven’t had the time to really do it. I ended up making the drive and got fitted by @iacas and It was a fantastic experience. By far the best club fitting/buying experience I’ve had. It was really eye opening to see how much my aim was off. For the longest time I felt that there was something off in my stroke, like I was holding off the club but never really saw tons of missed putts on that side. Sure enough, the fitting showed I was aiming my current putter like 10” or so left of the hole. After using the new fit putter I started aiming a ton better and got the ball on line a lot more. I still pushed/blocked putts but it was way more apparent and something I am going to work on. I could not be any more excited to get my new putter. I think this is the first time I’ve been excited to practice putting, previously it’s always felt like more of a chore. Golf season could not come soon enough.

I’ve only played on a simulator once and that was like 5+ years ago. I thought it was alright but just a little pricey ($50) for what it was. It seemed fairly accurate but the putting was awkward. I’d rather just hit balls at an indoor range.
-
Try looking to see if you can find a used version of the shaft. That should bring the price down a bit. Also you could talk to the fitter and see if there are any other shafts that they would recommend that are closer to your price range It’s also worth noting that there are not industry standards in regards to shafts. Meaning that not all x-stiff shafts (or any other stiffness) are the same stiffness from brand to brand.
