I think you nailed it with that comment. Adam is Greg's Australian protege' and Ishikawa will bring tons of Japanese viewers and attention they otherwise would not have. So Adam Scott was a personal choice and Ishikawa was a monetary choice. BUT, I LOVE Adam Scott, but I would have had to see more out of him to make him a pick. Just my opinion.....

Actually, 3rd Down screens are a GREAT idea. You tell me what MOST defenses do on a middle to long 3rd down......THEY BLITZ!! And what defenses are screen passes and draws designed to beat......THE BLITZ! That is why they call draws and screen passes, because the defense will usually run right by them. By the way, if you seating in this stat room or on your couch at home were smarter than this Offensive Coach calling plays.....you would be calling plays.

Help me!!! Great front 9 bad back 9
bsettle replied to trog2233's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This most definitely sounds like a fitness issue. I tend to do the same thing on really hot or humid days. I am in pretty good shape, but sometimes I just get a little winded and start leaving things short or right. -
If you are swinging 100mph you need nothing less than 65g. Anything under that would be too light. But, do whatever works....nothing else really matters. Like I tell my friends, "Who cares if you are hitting a 9 from 155 and i hit a 7, I still make par!"

Sonartec, Not Sure Who It Was…
bsettle replied to Bump-n-MI's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sonartec is one of the best kept secrets in golf. When they went out of business several years ago, all types of Tour Pro carried their fairway woods. Great buy!!!! -
You may think about some core/leg workouts to develop what seems to be getting tired after the front nine. I would suggest not carrying your bag in a tourney if your game suffers. But in the long run having the core/leg strength to sustain for 18 holes will do nothing but help your golf game.

I also hit a slight fade, I adjusted mine to the notch right in between N and L. Explaination: Right - to fade the ball/open the face Neutral - straight ball flight/square face Neutral Upright - slight draw and higher ball flight/slightly closed, more loft Left - Draw the ball/ closed face REMEMBER: THERE IS A INTERMEDIATE POSITION IN BETWEEN EACH POSITION. SO YOU HAVE 7 TO CHOOSE FROM!!!

Played Valhalla right after the Ryder Cup. The course wasn't really setup that difficult, but the greens were VERY fast but receptive. I shot 82, from the tees in front of the tips, still like 6900+ yards! There were a couple of par 4's I had to hit fairway woods into and I am not a very short hitter. Pro' s definitely play a different game than weekend or even avid golfers on PGA courses. If your average single digit handicap played on a PGA style setup weekly, he/she would quickly gain 10-12 strokes. It always amuses me to hear someone say that could shoot even or under par during a 4 round tourney on the Tour just because they consistently shoot a couple under on their home course.

As a fellow Louisvillian, I too am incredibly excited!!! The Ryder Cup was a tremendous experience.

I LOVE a Seinfeld quote! Awesome!

If the course is not in good shape it is probably because people keep driving and parking in the grass when they do not need to. That is why most golf courses have the 90 degree rule, so people dont just drive in the grass.

I have two experiences: Kenny Perry plays a course I play frequently in Paducah,KY (6800+/71.3/127) and he usually shoots mid 60's consistently. I think his best round is 63, two of the course record. Steve Flesch, Lee Trevino, and Fuzzy Zoeller all played Jeffersonville Elks CC ( 6911/73.1/130) just outside Louisville, KY where I sometimes play. None of them have shot under 64. I think they shoot 65-68 pretty consistently, though.

Advice for Playing with Single Digit Handicappers
bsettle replied to TheLauncher's topic in Golf Talk
I promise you, if you play your game and not make excuses they will respect you. If they give you a hard time they are pricks and should not be allowed to play a gentlemens game anyway. Remember nobody will care how bad you are playing as much as you. If you have good golf etiquette and dont let your game raise your temper, you will have a fun day and get to see some really good golf. Take it this way.....you could learn ALOT! -
Gatlinburg Country Club is great for the price. You will pay about 60 bucks, greens and cart, but if you wait until after 1 you can get 10 dollars off. The back nine is very diffilcult and number 12 par three will take your breath away. It plays over 200 yards but you can hit a short iron.......thats right! Straight downhill. Also pick up the tip sheet at the clubhouse.....you will lose 8-10 strokes without it and when it says hit an extra club.....DO IT! And yes you can get on even though it is a CC.

TaylorMade TP Red LDP. I hit it further than the ProV1 and it still has the bite!

I shot my career best 69 today @ Weissinger Hills (69.3/127) in Shelbyville, KY. 27 putts did the trick, although that 57 foot birdie I ran in on 15 sure helped. This could have definitely been a 66. I had a chip jump out of the hole, made a bogey from only 135 yards out, and I pared the first par 5. Hit 10 fairways and 12 greens.

Me and my golf partners always grab a ball and our wedges and stand like 30 yards apart and hit flop/pitch shots back and forth. Can never practice that short game enough.
-
I was on the 10th hole during the Ryder Cup and saw him hit 8 iron from 210 to about 3 feet on a 598 yard hole. Most guys were hitting hybrids into that hole and he hit an 8 iron!

Launch angle is affected by several things. Obvious things like whether or not you "trap" the ball or not and the steepness of your swing first come to mind. But the thing that most people do not realize is that your shaft has ALOT of control over your launch angle. To answer your other question, I am not sure about specific irons, but I know that the ideal launch angle for the driver is 12 degrees. Also remember that your spin rate is equally important, more spin usually means higher flight (and less distance). Although ideally a higher ball flight and less spin is ideal to get carry and roll for distance.

Your wrist position at the top is HEAVILY dependent on your grip. If you have a stronger grip it is harder to keep a flat wrist, unless you dramatically alter everything just for the purpose of having a flat wrist. The best way to have a flat wrist is to use the neutral grip, usually can only see 1 1/2 - 2 knuckles on left hand at address. Also remember that a slightly cupped wrist is natural. You actually have more "room" to cock and uncock your wrist with a slightly cupped wrist. TRY IT! Flatten your wrist and cock your wrist, now slightly cup your wrist and your movements around your anatomical snuff box will be freed. So dont freak out about a slightly cupped wrist.

Actually it is illegal to stand directly behind anyone during a match, full swing or putt. Watch the pros like J.B. Holmes' caddie, he will help J.B. with his line but right before he makes the stroke he moves over like 5 feet. Or watch when they are on the tee box they always stand on the side, yes it is to be safe, but it is also illegal to do other wise. You can move in after the swing has been made, but during swing it is illegal to stand directly behind another player.

Remember there are dozens of reasons people slice the ball, so we could give you tips all day, but without seeing your swing and your faults......it is unlikely we can actually pin point the problem. You only need to know this. The cause of EVERY slice is this: the club face is open in relation to the swing plane. There have been a couple great suggestions already on this post and I will give the main reasons most people slice the ball: 1.) Almost 100% - Coming over the top Your first move from the top with the hands should be downward, not at all forward. I can almost guarantee you are doing this, but you can have this move and still play GREAT golf. It all depends on your alignment and club face through the ball. If you align your body for a cut or fade and come slightly over the top, but still roatate your wrists throught the shot properly....you will play a nice controlled cut (Holmes, Trevino, Stricker) 2.) 75% - Leaving clubface open through impact. Even if you have a proper swing plane, but you leave your clubface open through impact and into the follow through, the ball will move left to right (depending on how much the face is open). REMEMBER THIS TIP: Halfway back your left hand should be like you are shaking hands with someone behind you and half through the follow through your right hand should be like you are shaking hands with someone in front of you. If you do this you are releasing properly and the clubface is closing. 3.) 75% - Body getting too far ahead of arms and club This is what the first post was referring to. If you try and swing too hard you will through your body open too fast and your club just cannot catch up and the face is open at impact and the ball will go right every time. If you will slow the swing speed and make solid contact and give the club a chance to catch up......you will be very surprised how far the ball will go......even swinging easy.
