I have been on the other end of that situation and had someone drive up to my friend and I and ask if we took an orange ball out of the fairway. The question was so rediculous I almost didnt answer then i started to take offense as he was basically accusing us of stealing. I told him i had no interest in his top flite and sort of reacted like the two on the green did. I sort of side with them as their reaction was similar to mine.

That damn ledbetter has really destroyed her game.

Interesting as most signs say no smoking and vapor isnt smoke. There is no combustion at all. I only smoke or VAPE with coffee while playing golf or having a beer. I feel much better and my lungs are clear. My friend works for the EPA and they are going crazy trying to figure a way to tax it. All those cigarette taxes states relied on through the years could dry up and what would they do?

I grew up about 7 miles from there. Traffic will be bad, the course is not bad as far as walking, i would research where the concession stands, spectator stands and views for multiple holes preferrably not near the entrance and head directly there for a spot to view multiple holes have food and beverages and porta johns available. I always would go wed and thursday for practice and 1st round. My wife would get autographs while i sat in the stands. Good compact binoculars and a digital camera (practice round) will help as long as they arent to heavy and cumbersome. Also a cheap foldup poncho just in case.

What about vaping? I quit cigarettes 2 years ago but still use a vaporizer for nicotine. I have heard 2 viewpoints as it is vapor and doesnt count but I know playing partners comment on the smell.

Do you mean to the right as they address the ball? Truely behind when someone is about to hit doesnt bother me but I think the best position is facing the player

I agree and experience it often. I play with a walker who is a good player but struggles to keep up. I try and consciously slow down sometimes to give them a break.

I think it has always existed and cant say it has escalated.. well maybe the jump on the back 9 but I am guilty of that also but only when I play alone and they wont see me past the 10th hole.

I think its because I grew up playing a difficult course and played the whites from the start. Back then there were only 3 tees and a 12 YO didnt have a choice other than mens tees..Dumbing down I mean shallowing bunkers shorter distances, short rough, and heaven forbid expanding the cup size. I feel more a sense of accomplishment scoring well on a hard hole as oposed to an easy one.
-
and what tees are you referring to? I play the seniors unless the senior tee is a drive and Lob wedge as oposed to driver 7 from the whites. I hit the ball in the fairway and a 180 or 200 yard second doesnt scare me. I have a good short game which allows me to get up and down pretty often. + ? "]

Well I have parred or birdied every hole on the course at least once just not all at the same time.

made too easy..

I dont want to use driver 5 iron or higher on every hole. I enjoy a challenging par 4. Fairway woods and a good short game you can still make par without much difficulty. I like the game the way it is. I dont need it dumbed down.

approaching the green I always look for the low point where water would drain off during a deluge, thats a start. I look at overall slope of the green, what did my approach or my oponents shot do on the green. If still have dout I feel with my feet. uphill i allow for slighly more, downhill a hair less make a decision concentrate on speed and keep your head still and stroke the putt.

I play daily with a scratch golfer. We have to wait longer on par 4s for the group ahead to get out of range, some par 4's are drivable for him so we wait for the green to clear. I am bascially ready for my second shot after playing from the seniors but have to wait for my friend. I think it all evens out.

Welcome I'm orignially from Livingston, essex county area. Morris County has some nice courses also.

I hate rules where they are not necessary. Is this really an issue? I am not a long hitter and usually play the whites but sometimes the yellows depending on the course. I just dont want to be told which tees to use. Golf to me is a combination of fun, relaxation, excercise, precision concentration and focus. I play the money, i make the choice. I am not a long hitter or a back tees player just dont want mandates deciding where I should play.

I had a young guy join me last week on the first hole. He said he played the tips and I internally rolled my eyes but he could walk the walk. He had just gotten out of the Marine corps, played hs and college golf and was in us open sectionals twice. His drives are close to 300 and straight and the rest of his game is good also. He shot a 75 on aerated greens hardly trying. Anyway, we are playing today and this week. I have no idea why he wants to play with a senior who hits the ball barely 200. He gave me a tip and now i hit a nice draw and hit a 160 yard 8 iron the other day.

I played 9 this morning trying to finish before a tournement started. I started on the back and wanted to play alone as I wanted to practice some bump and run shots. Another person made the turn and i was going to let him through but he suggested we play together. It didnt matter to me but there are times I want to practice and dont want to play with others.

I play solo almost every day. I play by the rules. yesterday I flubbed a bump and run and dropped a 2nd ball and hit a shot but played the first and picked up the 2nd. I think that was the only time i did that. I use my garmin watch to upload my scores and it is painful to upload a high score but i shot it right? Sometimes I will catch up to another group and join them. I find that when I do I go into a different mode. I play more focused and subconsciously want to beat whoever I am with. I like playing alone as I can finish 18 in 2 1/2 hours playing slow.

There are 2 holes on my course that you need to be below the hole. If not you have a breaking fast putt that if barely touched can roll 5-6 feet past. I would rather be short in two on a par 4 to chip below the hole rather than hit the green and be above the hole. I think sometimes its fill and maybe its just luck on their part.Maybe its skill.

interesting idea especially switching for short putts

There are several holes on my course that have plateau greens. Putting the ball on the green does not guarantee a 2 putt. When the pin is back left on a particular hole there is very little room to get the ball back there. If you are long it is very hard to get it near the pin as the green is also elevated. In some cases if the pin is back for me the correct play is to play for the front right short of the green and flop it to within a few feet. Otherwise you are left with a putt up the plateau and breaking right to left and FAST.

My cousin caddied for Nancy Lopez as an amatuer in the womens US open at AC CC. I think she finished 4th. Very cool I remember going with my father to the 80 US open at Baltusrol and Nichlaus had a late day tee time. We saw his caddy Angelo out with the people and my father pointed him out. He was checking pins and how the course was playing. A very good lesson on preparation.
