When you look like me you generally don't have to worry about range mates unless it's full

Like above low runner and get it on the ground so that if it doesn't draw it stops before OB and bad news happens. Prob 7 iron or so, back of stance and try to draw it up near front of green and try for up and down. more like a chipping motion for me. If I try to "hood" things I end up hitting it about as pure as I can and straight where the trouble is.. lol

My last round I shot 86 and had 39 putts. Granted I'm a little rusty from a long lay off but don't think I putted terribly. I did have one 4 putt (from about 90') where I ran putt #2 6' past the hole then missed the come back. Greens were big so I had a few GIR where I had a 50'+ putt. Rolled it within 8' typically but missed the next one. Voila.. 3 putts. Been working on my putting a lot so hopefully drop that # closer to 30 next time :D

like this. I've modified it a little since then but you get the idea. Might consider a soccer goal sort of design also. The strongest of winds will blow it over but not biggie. 10' sections of PVC at Lowe's was $3.50 and I cut them with a hacksaw
-
I built mine from an 8x8 ebay net (~$35), shower curtain rings and 1" Schedule 40 PVC. It's 7' tall and 8' wide. Took about 15 minutes

Yup. All the time. HK VP9 or sig p 238

You guys are lucky. I actually enjoy practicing. Chipping and Putting games etc. I don't mind hitting the same club over and over and workin on things. I just have ZERO time now to practice.. lol My time is now hitting into my net for 20 minutes or so or chipping balls into a hula hoop working on distance control. Maybe once a week away from the house

Anyone Carry and Use a Really Old Club?
opie replied to satchmodog's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I still use an Orlimar 3 wood. I'm guessing 1996 or so -
Quick google search. Untested but prob get your going https://www.spreadsheet-library.co.uk/templates-tools/sport/golf-handicap-calculator/

Hi folks. Haven't been around in a good long while. Had about a 10 year hiatus. Got frustrated. put the clubs down and never picked them back up. Sort of regret it now but went out a played with my old man a month or so ago and want to get back into playing both to hang out with him more and to just have a fun hobby (I'm a bit calmer in my older age). Was a bogey golfer before or a touch better (80-85 or so on good days). Decent iron player, terrible tee ball. So I've been seeing a coach a couple times a month to get some good habits and make changes while everything feels uncomfortable. Body Posture, Grip, the works Anyways.. glad to be back around. Maybe get together with Atlanta area folks sometime and play a round

Horrible day at range, should I just get lessons?
opie replied to Quietus's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Is there a story behind that statement somewhere on this site? Seems like an interesting read (No intent to derail thread) -
I live in this neighborhood. Could be a good course if not for the management

I read a lot. Don't post though :D Two kids under 4, not a lot of golf time. So it sucks as usual

I've used a set of the trekz for about a year. I love them. Nothing in or on my ear. They don't like OTE headphones of course but for what they are I think they're great. They're on my head right now, I use them all day at work for music and conf calls. Just have to charge a lot but I can live with that

Yup. I rarely hit a SW other than a chip of 20 yds in. I love hitting the knock down PW. Comes in low, controllabe and stops

Fitting in time to play/practice again. After a shoulder injury then training for a half ironman then wrecking a motorcycle (injuring shoulder again) I can finally say I can swing a club again. I've played once this year and didn't pick up a stick beforehand to even see if I could still hit it. Starting Stack and Tilt and my major goal would be the tee ball. I lose way too many strokes with OB and lost balls off the tee. To watch me off the tee and then from 170 in I'm 2 different golfers have to hit the big(ger) sticks straighter

You can talk to a slice but a hook won't listen :D During a round I seem to be able to straighten out a hook quicker than a slice but for overall scoring.. Hook is the devil. Trees don't stop it most of the time
-
3 is the best I've done. Funny thing is I prefer par 3's because my iron game is 100x better than woods. I rarely birdie a par 5 even though I'm a longish hitter. Never know where the driver or 3 wood is going
-
I won't play a shot that might damage my club. Don't care what the rules are in that situation On busy days I'll play a lost ball where I didn't hit a provisional like a lateral hazard. I've lost a few in the rough at some courses around here When I go OB and didn't hit a provisional I don't go back to the tee. I drop next to the OB stake and hit 4. I just assume I went back to the tee and hit my next drive the same way except it didn't go OB :D
-
Why does it have to be a 36 handicapper? If you're playing a busy course on the weekend and you didn't hit a provisional only to find your ball OB and you walk back to the tee box.. You're gonna be pissing some folks off. If I'm playing behind you i'm gonna be irritated

I swing easier to get less spin and lower trajectory. Was working on it last night with a 5 iron. Abbreviated swing, choke down and swing easier. Into a nasty headwind I was losing 15-20 yards but the ball flight was MUCH lower and the wind was affecting it less
