  1. I had a bit of insomnia last night and found Little Loopers on Amazon/Roku...it's the Bad News Bears of golf...only not very good.
  2. Grandfather's Eyes...I may retire them but I'll never cut em loose. I don't bag them anymore but I have the 1, 2, and 3 irons too.
  3. Golf Digest Article I thought the Eye-2 (and older) clubs had been grandfathered in? I have been thinking about upgrading from my old Ping Eye irons to some Eye-2 BeCu...but now I'm curious if these could be played in club tournaments? Or is this just an issue with higher level amateur/pro events?
  4. Pretty weird seeing them driving cars (not carts) on the fairways and right up to the greens.
  5. All Star Golf? Love it! Looks like Bowling for Dollars.
  6. ...am I the only one who started singing "Trapped Under Ice" when you watched this?
  7. Check it out...10am - 8pm, all Arnold, all day. DVR set. I'd normally add a link here for a more intelligent looking post...but I couldn't find one.
  8. Well, I guess I'm pulling my 3i out of the bag and adding a 52* wedge to match my 56 & 60...c'mon Santa!
  9. Just re-gripped with Winn DriTac Midsized Wrap, the dark grey with blue end. Almost went jumbo but was afraid they be too bulky. Glad that I was able to feel them first. After trying several at the PGA Super Store, I decided that I really prefer wraps to the multi-compound grips. After two rounds, I like them a lot.
  10. Lower commissions/incentives too, maybe?
  11. Thanks for the replies, guys. GolfExecutive, we have a condo on 98 in the family so lodging is usually no problem. But, I will play Emerald Bay first this spring. We try to spend a couple of weeks each year there usually Spring and off season...can't believe that I have never taken my clubs before. Goals for 2017: Emerald Bay Kelly Plantation Windswept Dunes
  12. I've had luck going 2 ways here... 1 - I found a Pinemeadow 385cc driver bought for $30 at Academy about 10 years ago. Good beginner club for me, consistent performance, very little $ investment. Feels good to hit a fairway 10 yards beyond my brother in law's ball which was put there with a $350 stick... 2 - Used 460cc driver. I'm currently playing with a Ping G5 driver that I bought at Clubfinders for $69. Better club definitely out performs the Pinemeadow on distance a little but after I learned to hit a driver, both did the job and served their purpose for me without spending $400 or more on one club.
  13. Giving nephew and daughter both their first sets of clubs, gloves, personalized towels, a dozen of the Calloway balls with the yellow/black soccer ball pattern, tees, etc... Receiving a Bag Boy Chiller bag and 13 mid-size Winn grips. Looking into lesson packages at the PGA Super Store for the kids, wife, and self too.
  14. Maybe the closest thing to getting fitted clubs in the used market is to use the Ping color code system and patiently watch Ebay for the right set of Eye2 irons. Hard to beat the quality for your dollar too. ping_color_code_chart.pdf
  15. Putters have had this for how many years?
  16. Still playing with my G5 driver and fairway woods with original TFC-100D/F graphite shafts from 2004, no problems here.
  17. Did the exact same thing...I want to check out the driver but it wasn't a very entertaining production.
  18. Found some good deals on Amazon Prime & Dick's online both. Bought complete starter sets last night for both my nephew (Ram, $99, Dick's online) & daughter (Wilson, $120, Amazon) who are both starting to show interest in playing...and a new bag for myself also on Amazon. I've been watching both sets and the bag for a several weeks and they were all about $50 (or more) less than their previous lowest price which was Labor Day. I decided to pull the trigger last night rather than waiting for a better deal on Monday to make sure they are in stock and will ship here before Christmas. Been watching a few items on Rock Bottom too...waiting to see if they drop a little more.
  19. Blasphemy...
  20. Well??? What you got there?
  21. There is one course here in Plano, TX (Waters Creek) that has an 18-hole coursr, a 9-hole course, a 9-hole "foot golf" course. and a 6-hole "Futures Course" Par-3 for families and juniors. It's the first 6-hole course that I'd ever heard of before stumbling into the article in my original post just thought I'd see if this is common. I like the idea..especially this time of year when the days are shorter. This 6-hole course has lights too, I just wish it wasn't a par-3. I end up playing a lot of par-3 courses because of my schedule, seems like I could play a loop of 6-holes in about the time that it takes to play 9 on the par-3 courses. Once the time changes back, I could probably play 12-18 holes a week, 45 minutes a day.
  22. http://www.golfcoursearchitecture.net/content/six-hole-golf-what-do-the-architects-think Interesting read on golf course designs going to three 6-hole loops rather than two 9-hole to make it easy to play 6-holes rather than 9. Is this becoming a trend with new courses?
  23. Like this, with a couple of additional boxes. Just looking for feedback on the playing surfaces by Tour Greens.
  24. Anyone have experience playing on Tour Green or other artificial putting/chipping green surfaces? I am considering the same thing as you, but am leaning towards using a large artificial green/fringe with multiple holes and artificial tee boxes from different approach distances and angles...maybe even a sandtrap or two. Seems like low maintenance would give me more time to just practice. Something like this but with multiple flags and tee boxes. Image stolen from Internet, not mine.
  25. Yeah, that episode was like watching a bunch of 5th graders reading a report on the same book....over and over. About as informative as it wasn't entertaining....can't wait for this week's episode!
