  1. Welcome to the club! I have played Mizuno for the last 15 years. I just like the feel. I had rotator cuff surgery in January. I had PT for 4 months.I played once this year in August. I lost 15 yards because of the surgery. I realized I can't swing the stiff anymore. At 60 I should go to a senior shaft. I haven't decided if I'm going to reshaft or buy new. I pretty sure I'll stick with Mizuno.
  2. Yea I never got the tabletop. She looked so uncomfortable. I get when you are trying to improve you'll try some wierd stuff, but she looked awkward and off balance. She was better off picking her line, walking up to the ball and in under 3 seconds stroking it. Glad to see she looks more comfortable now. The LPGA needs her back on top.
  3. Shotmakers, I have launched Episode 7 of "Let Me See What Happens If I.." This is a discussion on how you approach and achieve. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUunm_ai0JhOASjdRNHT7RQ
  4. Sounds like you guys just continue what we talk about on the course. It's what makes playing golf with strangers fun-comraderie. Welcome.
  5. I like the scramble format because of the comraderie in the group. I have always played scrambles as any single round. Just go out and play within your game. Unless your playing with the Q school rejects, your normal game should be solid enough to keep the team in competition. UNLESS OF COURSE ......you're winning the closest to the anything "shots"...
  6. So it seems that the main concern is the simulator play. Will golfers go for that in that realm. So what if they built nine holes indoors and made them challenging. Would that justify the price? Could they add something to the place to increase the curious eyeballs?
  7. While I technically don't have a 5 wood in my bag, I have a 20 and 23 degree hybrid which in essence are my 5 and 7 wood (though a rather strong 7 wood .)
  8. I launched Episode 6 of Let Me See What Happens If I.. topic Preparation. Enjoy it and please comment to me. Thanks
  9. Thank you all. I'm afraid that my natural impatience will not help me. But I guess litlle by little is the only way. Maybe I can join you guys next year.
  10. In Palmer's book about strategy, he plays the hole from green to tee. As I look at it that way, there is no advantage to clearing the last bunker for score. For bragging rights (if that's the bet) ok. BTW, I would never have said that in High School or College. or in my 30's
  11. Hey Gang, So I'm halfway thru my rotator cuff surgery recovery. I haven't played a round in 11 months (by far the longest ever). My last swing was October. Has anyone had to go thru this? How did it feel when you picked it up again? Any tips are welcome.
  12. How much am I playing for ? To have a 120 wedge from the center of the fairway seems like money to me.
  13. sims are a fun substitute when you can't play outdoors. Don't take them too seriously. It's like Wii golf-imagine mishitting a shot on that and getting upset. It's just part of the course.
  14. See? these are the kinds of comments i was referring to when I asked the question. We grew up playing the shorter courses to learn that part of the game. When we felt comfortable with it, we moved on to the bigger courses and bigger challenges. Somewhere new golfers in this millenium have not been shown the merits of this type of learning the game and the love for it. I was behind a grandfather and his 13 year old on the first tee of the Black course at Bethpage. The grandfather hit it 125 into the green course fairway to the right and his grandson hit it 100 yards straight but still had 125 yards to get to the fairway. I walked off at 15 after 51/2 hours. My guess is the grandson didn't develop any love that day. Forest Park in Queens, NY was my home course . 5400 yards and 75cents to play in High school. Challenged me on every hole. I loved it. I stayed with it.
  15. This is where a good swing coach can make the diffference.
  16. I agree with you 1badbadger . Maybe the stats are how the pros try to isolate their shortcomngs and eliminate one at a time. I'm trying to figure out this: If the stats make them better players, then shouldn't they be heads above the pros from yesteryear? Those guys relied on instinct and a teacher to help them work out their issues. I don't see today's pros being better players per se considering the technology gets them out of gnarly situations that the pro of yesteryear had to rely on their shot making abilities.
  17. While that's true, there is the other books the pros write that deal with the other parts of the game. Again it's about the obsession that I have the issue with-the obsession of what the pros do and not what the obsessee should be taking from them.
  18. I see alot of it being stats driven. 30 years ago, the only stat that really mattered was "W". Yea guys like Jack were touted for their driver distance, Player for short game, etc. But there wasn't this obsession with every little detail. I don't think I ever averaged more than 165 with a 7 iron, but I also didn't obsess over how far pros were hitiing it.
  19. As a simple suggestion, since you changed your backswing and its timings coming down, maybe the ball is now 1/2" or so too far forward in your stance. You might have changed the squaring point at the bottom of the swing. You can check that simply by using "Let Me See What Happens If I.." at a range by moving the ball back 1/2" and seeing the results.
  20. i think if it's a HOF for professionals and it's based on tour events, then it should be cumulative of tour events. Nobody talks about Vijay as being great but 34 wins and 3 majors puts him in 14th place in front of many named golfers.
  21. I agree if they come in to the local price point, it could be a good alternative. I guess I'm questioning whether golf needs alternative venues.
  22. It looks as if they're trying to solve two issues: time and all year playing. Living in NY all year would be nice.
  23. I would love to attend. I won't be able to play or participate yet. I'll see how things progress.
  24. There's a new type of golf starting in Washington state. It's called Realitee www.realitee.com . It's a hybrid idea. I'm curious about how the group feels about it. Would you play it? Does it offer a good alternative? Will it bring new golfers to the game? Just throwing it out there.
  25. It's been 4 weeks now. I'm 2 weeks into PT. It looks as if I'm ahead of schedule. But as the therapist reminds me "Don't fall into the trap of thinking you're healing faster than you think". I can understand that. It's the same trap as thinking your 3 under after nine and breaking your best round is almost a given. Besides, the surgeon gets really upset if you change his artwork
