  1. I see him winning quite a few more majors. Maybe a lot more. He's just stone cold... cold. Doesn't approach it like most.
  2. How good is this no-name Koepka guy? If he keeps this up in majors he might make a name for himself one day.
  3. Saying it is quantifiable doesn't make it so. Saying that more players/deeper fields means definitively that you "played better" does not mean it is so. Either of them only had to beat a handful of players in any given event. It doesn't matter how many remained in the field that could not contend. That's just one assumption of many. That's a very astute and fair comment. I think winning 3 more would take the biggest point of contention out of the argument - "Jack has more majors, period, thus he's the GOAT." Of course then the number of 2nd-to-top-10 finishes would come into play, etc. etc. So it wouldn't really end the argument, but a lot of folks would jump ship from the "Jack" camp. FTR I think TW is the GOAT. Yep.
  4. All the data in the world can't make this argument anything more than conjecture. I hope TW just wraps up 3 more majors and puts the matter to bed.
  5. Lol at the concern for an implement we smash plastic rocks with. I use water, a bristle brush, and a rag. As I go generally, and after a practice session. That's it. Sometimes spit.
  6. There's always the possibility for anything. In general, 40+ is an indicator of an average or less golfer and in general, people are far less able to execute a full swing than a putt.
  7. Hard to say even on that basis.
  8. Anyone who takes 40+ putts in a round surely must take 60+ or 70+ full shots.
  9. Smylie Kaufman. Soon. Mark it.
  10. The stress in his life was probably attributable to his lousy chipping. The large spread wasn't due to him changing targets I don't think. It annoys me that in today's world we are supposed to overlook rudeness if there was no "intent." Consideration for other people is on the everyone, and it's not society's job to politely and gently point out that you're being selfish. This guy may have been in fact autistic. Whatever he had sure didn't help him with his golf game like it may have w/Moe Norman.
  11. I think I knew something was off with the guy. One day, when I mature, maybe I'll go out of my way to keep things calm. But I'm only 47 so I have a ways to go until then. The important thing is I didn't do anything out of line by the standards of "normal" society.
  12. More recently, they've flipped the characteristics of the Pro V1 and V1x. Now, the x has more spin off of iron shots (supposedly). Off the tee they are very similar in performance. The x still has a "click"-ier feel to me. I've been playing Titleist forever, so it's Pro V1 for me (used to be x when it was lower-spin across the board). I do like the Chrome Soft but can't get used to seeing anything but that familiar Titleist logo over the ball. And the duller finish (it's not as white).
  13. I hit the Duo out of curiosity and was very much surprised. It hung with the Pro V1. I didn't hit enough to get a definitive sample size, but it was the same distance-wise as far as I could tell. Definitely felt different.
  14. This is what I did. He freaked out of course. I knew this might happen, as anyone weird enough to take up an entire half acre with his "practice" is probably going to take offense that I didn't say anything to him first. I picked a hole towards a back corner, furthest from where he was currently practicing. He said "hey, what're doing?" And then I started to get a little angry and (probably needlessly) escalated the tone. "Just trying to get a little space here to practice? Do you mind if someone else uses the facility today?" Yes, the quesion was rude/provocative, but I'm human you know? He then went into a profanity-laced tirade and stormed into the pro shop to confront the pro. I just stood there trying to figure out what I'd walked into, or started. 5 min later he stomps out gets in his car and screeches out of there. The pro told me the dude was certifiably insane and has been trespassed. I just wanted to work on my pitching. Was hard to concentrate after that.
  15. At least you didn't invest a lot into the site given your post count.
  16. Yesterday afternoon, I headed to my course to get in some range time and then short game practice. When I arrived at the dedicated chipping/pitching/bunker shot green, I found a guy chipping and he had, literally, several hundred range balls scattered all over the surface of the green (and beyond). It looked like a major hail storm had hit. He would stab a dozen toward one pin, then pick another and go at it. Never picked up the first ball. His supply was coming from one of those 10-gal or so sized buckets used by "serious" players. Picture this, except covering an entire 1/2 acre practice green: It was an amazing display of lack of self-awareness and common etiquette, coupled with the most horrid chipping I'd ever seen. What would you have done? I'll tell you what I did (and it got interesting) after I hear a few responses...
  17. Of course the flip side to that is that many who can do, can't teach. Being able to connect and transmit ideas is an skill that is key. In the case of Leadbetter/Harmon/Haney et al, the other skill is marketing. Actually that last one comes first. Edit>>Of course a teacher had better to be proficient enough at the game to convey a sense of legitimacy.
  18. Jack wasn't Tim Herron or Barn Rat fat. He was chunky, but strong, especially in the lower body. I'd put him along the lines of more of a Darren Clarke fat.
  19. I had a mental image of some elderly Augusta matron being miffed when she got to her hairdresser's and found Ridley sitting under her favorite hairdryer Sunday morning.
  20. This you, Tusher?
  21. Yep. He's now won over 3 decades. His stats speak for themselves, and any shortage in major wins is offset by other areas of domination (more wins, which I think should carry more weight), winning percentage (23%), etc.
  22. That is ridiculous. Here's what I'd do: 1) Tell the board member to go **** himself 2) Go find a better group
  23. That's what I thought. Carts are one of the worst things to happen to the game over here. Living in FL, I meet a lot of you guys visiting from the UK and lemme tell you, for the most part you folks don't %@! around on the golf course. I wish that were true of everyone.
  24. Carts or walking?
  25. Maybe older people don't put in the reps to do it, as they are dealing with many other interests or responsibilities. But it's as easy to change something now as it was when I was a kid given the same amount of effort as I would have applied to it then. Actually easier for me now. Knowing how much time you have to devote should be the deciding factor between changing something versus going with what you got.
