Work on my distance control around the greens. Last year I left far too many shot inside 30 yards short leading to too many 2 putts. I have to get up and down more often. Keep the ball in play with the driver, I made some big strides at the end of last season, but need to hit more fairways. Shoot par for 18 holes, came close last year shooting a +1 72.

I am going through the same thing right now. I had my handicap down to 6.7 before I started to take lessons, and now I am one or 2 rounds from going back to double digits. I think it just takes time to get the changes committed into muscle memory, I noticed yesterday that the longer the round lasted the more I started to slip into an old habit of taking the swing back to far inside. I was on fire early on with birdies on 3 of the first 4 holes, shooting a 38 on the front, only to turn around and shoot 46 on the back, hitting only 1 green in regulation the last 9 holes. I know it will be worth it in the long run, so I am trying to stay positive but it can be maddening at times.

Didn't do much scoring but hit the ball really well with my driver and irons which led to a solid 39 / 39 / 78

Shot an 81 yesterday. Left the driver in the bag most of the day, opting to use my 2 hybrid off the tee on most holes.

I play a 4 iron at 205 carry, 3 hybrid adjusted to 20 degrees 220 carry and a 2 hybrid (17 deg) instead of a 3 wood at 235 carry

I usually play 6300 to 6700, sometimes I will play closer to 6000 and leave the driver at home. Good way to mix it up and hit some different clubs. Sunday I played as a single and got paired up with 3 guys who thought they were a lot better than they are so they played the tips at 7000 yards. A few of the par 4s are over 450 yards and they were lucky to get their drives out to 225. I doubt any of them broke 95 it was moronic.

I have noticed a lot more women golfing this year, which is great to see.

Chipped in 3 times from just off the green in my last 2 rounds which is about 3 times more than the last 2 years.

Broken Shafts at the Hosel - Taylormade M4
Inferno2ss replied to trizzgetsbizz's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My first set of golf clubs had graphite shafts and the exact thing happened to them. The clubhead went flying about 40 yards down the fairway on a par 3. After 3 of them snapped I finally said screw it and switched to steel shafts. -
From 215 out, under a tree I hit a low draw with my 4 iron to about 10 feet from the pin. Also, knocked in a pitch shot from just off the 2nd green to save par.

Almost shot myself yesterday after a 5 hour and 15 minute round. Was playing great til about the 12th hole then the wheels came off. Just lost my patience and got out of rhythm. Ended up shooting a 39 / 43 for an 82

Had a shot to break 80 in 20 mph winds, and blew it. The 15th was the only hole with the wind at my back, hit a great drive 314 yards up the middle of the fairway. From 80 yards out I hit my 2nd shot over the green, then proceed to chunk 2 easy pitch shots and ended up taking a triple bogey. Finished with 81. The worse part was I had been pitching really well up to that point.

Snell Golf - Message from Dean Snell
Inferno2ss replied to boogielicious's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I was a little skeptical about trying the Snell because I really didn't have good results with Vice. Bought 5 boxes and ended up giving 3 of them to my brother. Not sure if it was the spin or what but I lost 20 yards of carry on my drives and my irons were about a 1/2 club shorter. After learning more about Snell I had to give them a try and wasn't disappointed. The Snell MTB Black are great balls and seem to fit my swing really well. I really didn't notice much difference between them and the TP5 balls I was using. On my launch monitor they launched a bit higher and had less than the Vice and TP5. -
My goal is to shoot par for 18 holes. Almost did it today, was a best ever -3 after 9 and finished up with a +1, 72 on the day. Made one mental mistake on the par 3 11th hole, should have clubbed up one with a small breeze and ended up putting it in the sand, and taking a bogey. Still a great round, by far the best I have ever played.

Played a 9 hole executive course today and finished +3.

I hit around 30 balls at home using my launch monitor, than go to the course and spend about 15 minutes chipping and 10 minutes putting.

I don't wear a glove, never liked it going back to playing baseball when I was younger. I prefer to feel the club in my hand and never have issues with it slipping, even in the rain. Gloves just make my hands sweat like crazy as well.

Course Management Strategies to Break 90
Inferno2ss replied to Hugh Jars's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
As someone who plays as a single quite a bit during the week, that is the thing I see the most, people unwilling to swallow their pride and play the appropriate tees for their skill level. One of the things that really helped me get better was moving up, leaving the driver in my bag and working on hitting good shots with my hybrids and irons. A few years back anything iron past 175 yards was a disaster as I had zero confidence I could hit the green. Now that I have improved my iron play by quite a bit it is far easier to hit greens and make par so I have started to devote more time to hitting my driver more consistently off the tee.
