Being in Tampa, I am guessing the greens will be bermuda. New bermuda greens are usually pretty firm, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they might protect them a bit, and cut them a bit longer until they get well established. I would think they would be able to get them up to speed well before the firmness is gone, and the combo of speed and firmness will make them play pretty tough for awhile.

I like the format, but not a big fan of the course. With the overhead wires, and range netting that can be seen on multiple holes, it’s not very attractive.

We are starting to break dormancy here in the south, so the course is getting better every day. Still have a few wet fairways, but even the bad days are getting better.

We play all year, and the late sunrise in the winter is going to make for some late tee times.

I’m so tired of all this talk from the USGA. Just make a stinking ruling so we can get on with it!

Closed Courses You Formerly Played
Sandy Divot replied to bkuehn1952's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I have played all except Cedar Crest. Wake Forest CC, a few miles past Cheviot Hills, is closed, too. -
Sure am happy not to be playing that course today.

What's it Like to Spectate at a Major Tournament?
Sandy Divot replied to Dornenglanz's topic in Golf Talk
It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a tournament, but I liked to get there early, watch guys on the range, and walk the course with an early group. I would go home to watch the leaders on tv. -
On the commercials they say you have to buy direct. Are there places to demo the clubs, and get fit?

SQAIRZ, Fact or Fiction?

I think you are making too big a deal about this. -
SQAIRZ, Fact or Fiction?

When I received my shoes, the inside, in the heel area, was kind of lumpy. It felt like a blister waiting to happen. The material the shoe was made from seemed like plastic, and had a very strong odor. Considering these are the same price as top of the line leather FootJoys, they seemed rather cheaply made. Also, I don’t believe that these give you any advantage over any quality spiked shoe. In fact, the shoe worn by a lot of guys in long drive competition is spikeless. My spelling might be off, but it’s Athalonz, and I believe Langer switched to it this year. -
I played a really good course last week, and it took 5 hours on a Thursday. It was not a course that gets tourist play. We were behind two groups, and the first group had nobody slowing them down. I played pretty good on the front, and just kind of lost interest on the back. Slow play is the most difficult thing for me to deal with on the course. I really need to do a better job of adjusting, and not letting it affect my game.

SQAIRZ, Fact or Fiction?

I ordered a pair last week. They arrived Saturday, and were returned this morning. I ordered them based on things I read that said how comfortable they are. I was not really looking for any performance benefits. When I took them out of the box, they were very heavy, and they had a vinyl like smell. When I tried them on, they were not comfortable at all. They might work for some, but they were not for me. Also, there is a restocking fee. If I had ordered from TGW , or a similar online seller, I have never paid a restocking fee to make a return. That should have been a red flag. -
I use an electric walking cart, and the driver cover comes off on the range, and goes back on after the tee shot on 18. Fairways, hybrids, and putter go off and on at every use.

SQAIRZ, Fact or Fiction?

Has anyone that used Sqairz also used FootJoy Premieres? I am interested in how they compare from a comfort standpoint. I prefer the traditional look of the FJs, but do not object to the look of the Sqairz. -
Leave it in for long putts, take it out for shorter putts. Also, our sticks are thick and heavy, with very little taper. Most of the time they help a putt going too fast not go too far past, but I’ve seen them keep good putts from going in.

He came up on the short end of the stick on a rules situation. I would bet everyone that plays has had a bad outcome at some point. He was frustrated, and popped off. Not the first guy, and won’t be the last.

First Custom Fit, but Not Sure I Agree With it!
Sandy Divot replied to Nick-UK's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Can you try a different fitter? It might confirm your results, or you might get new results. If I had some serious doubts, I would get a second opinion. -
Me, too. Probably go to a practice round.

Tim Rosaforte Dies of Alzheimer's Disease at 66
Sandy Divot replied to nevets88's topic in Tour Talk
Lost a grandmother and stepmother to Alzheimer’s. Both were old, and lingered a long time. Obviously, it’s tough on the individual, but it’s pretty darn tough on the care givers, as well.
