  1. Is a 7W so much different than a hybrid? Why all the fuss?
  2. If the yardage markers were correct, I landed a ball 20 yards passed a 300 yard par 4.
  3. You're right! I think he is.
  4. My experience with the launch monitor showed my 9.5° driver was launching the ball at 14 to 16 degrees - slightly higher than optimum for my swing speed. So is it my swing mechanics? or is it the kick point on the shaft? There are several variables that make this more complicated than I first thought.
  5. I bought my wedges one at a time as my game progressed. My first was a 56° that I can hit about 105 to 110 yards on a full swing. But i had a big gap between that and my 46° PW. So i filled it in with a 50° gap wedge. My last purchase was a 60° LW.
  6. I think that's it other than cosmetic changes (but I'm not 100% sure).
  7. Granted, a lot of scrambles allow you to buy as many mulligans as you want for $5 or $10 each, plus you get different rules that make the scoring really low. ONe of my favorites is the power drive - where you are allowed ot tee off from the ladies tees on the hole of your choice. Makes an almost reachable par 4 an eagle opportunity.
  8. Nice - i did the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. Feels awesome.
  9. Shot a 59 one time for 3rd place.
  10. 79 for 18. even par 36 for 9 (ended up shooting 81 that round).
  11. I agree. I fight pulls and pull hooks, and the problem is usually my right elbow. Unfortunately it usually takes several really bad left drives or someone pointing it out to me for me to realize I'm doing it again.
  12. Don't know the real answer, but I can tell you all my irons and wedges have the exact same size grip. I play OK with it that way.
  13. I think I'd have to slap anyone I was playing with that said I had "not much green with which to work" !!!! (joking - I'd probably laughing too hard)
  14. I paid $5 per grip for one of the better grips.
  15. I wish I could play on courses like that!
  16. When I was young and foolish - about 16 - I was with a friend on a local 9 hole course. one hole is a par 4, all down hill. The electric carts had zero compression breaking, so they just went faster and faster if pointed downhill. It was early in the morning, had dew on the ground, and we were flying down the middle of the fairway. I slammed on the brake, locked the wheel to the left, and made two complete 360° turns before coming to what I thought was a graceful stop. Then the maintenance guy stepped out from behind some trees and said we can keep playing, but he was going to have to revoke our cart priviledges for the day. We felt pretty silly carrying our big cart bags for the next 15 holes.
  17. I almost bought one the other day - but the store I was in didn't have any in 36" length. Still looking (I won't buy one via mail order - gotta FEEL a putter before I buy it).
  18. There is a point in relation to the depth of the clubface where it no longer matters how high you tee the ball. I think that makes sense (at least it does to me).
  19. That's freakin' hilarious. I talk to myself a little - but nothing like that. Caught myself saying "Niiiice" after a great shot.
  20. Just try to hit the ball first with a downward blow. The divot will be in the right place - whether it's shallow or deep.
  21. simple one - first name and first initial of last name.
  22. Country Oaks in Thomasville (SW GA - about 30 miles from Tallahasse, FL). If I had another choice, I'm sure I'd play somewhere else. It's OK, nothing special. But the only other course in town is private and I'm not that priviledged yet.
  23. That guy that hits my second shots is awesome! I hit my approach fat, then throw a ball down in disgust and hit it next to the pin. Happens all the time. Too bad they don't count.
  24. My local course charges $11 to walk as many holes as you want on weekdays after 3:00. I like to go out on Friday b/c I get off work an hour early (4:00). Plenty of time since it's daylight until 8:30.
