Another tip: if you would not walk through an airport scanner with it, don’t take it. You must pass through a series of checks and metal detectors that would make the TSA jealous. So don’t try and sneak anything in. Go straight to the merchandise area (especially if it’s later in the week) they clean out fast. They will hold any purchases for you, or they have a Fed-Ex booth right there to ship it home. Be prepared for a little sticker shock on the items ($80-$100) for a shirt. However, you make that up with saved $ at the concessions area. They unlike most sporting events are "cheap", and you must have a Master's traditional EGG Salad sandwich! There is a good area in the morning over by #2 that allows you to see #2, #3, #8, & #7. My favorite later in the day spot is right by #17 tees. There you can see #17, #15, #16, and #7 & #6. Another really cool thing is meeting the people that sit in some of those areas. My Grandmother has gone to every tournament since the 50's and knows all the people that sit around her because they have been there for years as well. You can get a lot of the Masters history from these folks. Enjoy it, I am a very fortunate individual to have gone numerous times and I have even been able to play a few rounds on the course and it still kind of inspires a moment of awe when I walk in the gates every year.

I think maybe Tiger got Humbled!

2 wins in last 8 months, top 20 in the world, Ryder Cup team...consistent tournament finisher........I think he might have gotten an invite (wins and world ranking actully put him in).

Way too much!!! You should have given the ball back to him......I would have returned it with a puched 3 iron...6 feet off the ground. Maybe put it back into the bag for him...use a swift kick to the center of the bag to unzip it!!!!

Mine is a true story.... When you leave your wife at home with your 1 week old twin boys because you got member's badges for Sunday at the Master's...and can be forever memorialized in the picture of Phil hitting the shot out of the pines!

I have travelled for years with golf clubs both in college and for personal. I would get a decent travel bag. They have a tendency to stand up the rigors of travel much longer. I have my Club Glove from college golf and it still works great. Airlines will not insure your clubs unless they are in a rigid case, but those are a pain to travel with. If you are going to travel with your clubs, I would say you must have a “Stiff Arm”. Mine is made by Club Glove. They fit down into your bag and extend over the tops of the drivers. This prevents a great deal of potential damage. I have flown all over and my bag has protected my clubs fine. 2 nd piece of advice pack a some of your clothes in the travel bag to cushion the clubs. here is a link to the Club Glove Stiff Arm http://www.golfsmith.com/products/231537/Club_Glove/Stiff_Arm

You hit it right in screws! I don’t personally partake, but I don’t feel it is my position in life to judge those that do or tell them they can’t. I would like to see it made legal to take out that portion of the drug trade. If it is legal, it will decrease the costs and make it much easier to go to the local drug store and buy it than all the investments in growing it and with out the inflated value, then the nefarious organizations will leave it alone for the more lucrative endeavors. Then it would help alleviate the overcrowding issues in our jails for those that where using. I don’t think they should get their records expunged, because they still made a decision to break the law, but we could get them off the public books.

State golf Assoc. - Amatuer, Junior Am, AJGA, Cleveland Junior Open - June 28 - July 1, Columbus Junior Presented by Memorial - July 12 - 15...etc. There are plenty of opportunities; you just have to determine how serious you really are. I know lots of 15 16 year olds that want to be scratch golfers; heck I know a lot of golfers that want to be scratch for that matter. Are you willing to put in the work? You have to determine if you are going to let excuses stand in your way or not?

I understand this post is several years old...That being said this question comes up every couple of months. Depends on what you define a "professional" as...you can file your paperwork with your local PGA region and now you are offically a pro. However, there are varying levels of pro's..mini tours, Nationwide, PGA Tour, teaching...you get the point! if its PGA, there are 6 billion people on the planet and about 200-225 with some kind of conditional status on the PGA tour. You do the math! I'm somewhere around a +2, in tournaments and I have played with numerous guys on tour some of which are in the top 25 in the world. I am no where close to being ready for any tour! I can WAX 99.9% the people I meet on the course and the Nationwide and PGA guys are in a different world

I enjoy how you consider yourself an expert on all things about the drug trade. Again, Let me preface this by saying I’m all for its legalization. I know you think that your little patch of California, is the WHOLE WORLD...but there are alot of other places and things are not like your little corner of the West. IF you are smoking the “homegrown” then you have either a medical condition…or you have obtained the weed illegally, under California law; whether under falsified prescriptions or ailments, or you are buying it from an illegal source. Marijuana grown by licensed growers makes a small portion of the market and can only be sold under a license and only to a legal distributor. A large portion of “homegrown” to not quite legal users, is actually grown by Mexican Cartel grow farms located within our borders. There is just as much propaganda coming from the either side of this issue. The major issue with getting it legalized is that the “high” side spends all their money on Doritos instead of lobbyist! You need to take your own advice and open up your mind and understand that while you may think it’s the greatest thing ever, it still causes a lot of issues within the United States.

I love how anyone that opposes their views is "stupid", "closed minded", or lack intellect because they cannot agree with their views. It seems they spout the same garbage they accuse and condemn others for. I am all for its legalization…hell like tobacco and alcohol, tax the crap out of it. Remember tobacco is a natural substance and for many years tobacco was considered safe and even medicinal.

I think I need to be more worried about our educational system...someone passed this person in 1st grade grammar and spelling!
-
Actually it is illegal in EVERY STATE! It is a banned substance under Federal regulations, therefore illegal in all states. Just saying...

I am going to say this in the least condescending way I can. If you are looking to be a scratch golfer, go talk to someone who is at least a scratch golfer. See how they how they approach the game, see how they play and practice. You can listen and take all the advice from the “experts” all you want, but the fact remains they are not a scratch golfer so how would they know what it takes? If I am trying to catch a Blue Marlin, I am going to seek out the advice of someone that has actually caught some Blue Marlin! I’m not saying that someone who is a 4 handicap will not have something to say that is helpful, but like it’s been said on here by countless others…a 4 handicap is a LONG way from scratch. I will say it again learn to become a great putter. Understand the breaks of a green, how to read the grain, how the wind will effect the ball. Rehearse your stroke until is so ingrained in you muscle memory that you could do it every single time exactly the same way. Same goes for your swing, create a swing that is as simple and repeatable as possible. Because when the pressure is on, you can be thinking about all the crap…you just have to be able to hit it pure.

I think Bubba sets up well for the Master's. first of, he is a Georgia Boy and we love our Master’s. The Master's does not have the teeth for hitting an errant drive as say the US Open. I think the tee ball placement is a little less important for him because he can cook a ball 50 yards in either direction. As far as mental game goes, he has now got a few wins under his belt, a Ryder Cup to stabilize his confidence. He is not quite the emotional knot he once was. He no longer has the family health issues that he once carried around either. He is very good on the Augusta type set ups. He played one at the University of Georgia ’s course through college. This course is so similar that the two weeks before the Master’s it is full of player’s working their game (Phil Mickelson for one) I think Bubba struggles with serious wind, always has. Wind really effects his game. I think ball striking is a non-issue, he has all the moves. We will see?

I somewhat agree with a previous posts. If you were to say you are going to shave 12 strokes in a 12 months…I would say big task but doable. However you are actually talking 3-6 months, so I would say you need to manage your expectations. I am not saying it is impossible, but I am saying if you make it to a 6 or an 8 know that you are making real progress. As mentioned previously, learn the real rules of the sport. I have played with numerous guys that are “scratch” but when the pressure is on and they must actually play by the rules they are a 6 or 7. Know the game and understand it. Get instruction and coaching from a good junior coach, they will teach you how to play the game as a junior and help you transition into a adult game. 3 rd , understand your game. Are you a long of the tee guy, or a sniper with the irons. Learn your limitations and manage the course accordingly. Lastly, you must PUT, PUTT, PUTT and when you are tired of that PUTT some more. In my opinion inside 12 feet is where most guys get from a 2 or 3 to scratch. Good Luck

I agree....I think that might be the definition of Poser!

Just an FYI the flat brimmed hats were not started by the "gangsta rappers" but baseball players. The Basball crew in the 59/50 hats (the fitted MLB hats) have been wearing the flat brims for 20 years+ long before the Rap Community. The baseballers wore them flat brimmed so the could fit the flip up sunglasses underneath. Then you saw the pitchers wearing them slightly off center so that it sheilded their eyes from the sun, when looking to 1st or 3rd in their wind up.. How it made the transition i dont know, i think it had alot to do with rep'ing their city or hood? Rickie Fowler is exactly what golf needs, a shot in the arm. i remember not to long ago people complaining about Payne Stewart's loud NFL gear too. Fowler is a good kid with his head on straight, and sounds like this crumudgeon is just jealous that this kid can beat him by 40 some strokes.

I had a similar event this past weekend in a tournament. I was hitting into a strong head wind from 148, typically an 8 iron all day long. However with the headwind, I went with a choke down 7. I hit and I flew the green down the backside. As I am making my way to the green, I see one of the tournament players in a group ahead of us lean over and pick something up and put in his pocket. I made my way to the green, and no ball! There is nothing for the ball to be lost in, so I know the other player picked up my ball. I made my way to the tee box to ask. I asked him if he picked up my ProV1x with a very distinct marking. He looks me right in the face and says, no I didnt pick anything up! I questioned the ball in his pocket, and discribed my particular marking and again he denies. I was about to lose my mind right there, nothing fumes me worse than a liar and a cheat. Another player in my group, confirmed that this individual is notorious for cheating! I had to take a lost ball penalty, which killed my chances in the tourney. My only recourse was turning him into the tournament director and Head Pro.

Actually if she was the owner of the house, which it sounds like she was, the cops will remove him and he is lucky they gave him ten minuites. This happens more often than you think, an aquaintance of mine had a large fight with his live in girl friend, she refused to leave even though it was his house. Cops came in gave her a few minutes to collect her things and took her to a friends house. To me the guy seems to be an excuse maker. I would've, should've, could've, but this happened or this person prevented me from doing it. One of the lines in the show, a guy telss him that he has become comfortable with the homeless lifestyle. I know lots of college golfers that lived out of their car, when trying to make it on the mini-tours. This guy is a whiner and an exuse maker. He said that his putting let him down in his previous attempts at Q-School, lets see how much he gets in the groove putting in a tube. BTW - His swing did not look all that good either. Well see....

need help with shoe selection
Bigtank replied to mrprovisional's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I battled Plantar Fasciatis for a while, especially when walking 6-8 rounds a week. I was a Nike guy, and switched to the Adidas 4.0's...Awesome! Three things for the the Plantar's 1. The towel stretching is a great help. 2. They make a "stretchy" band that wraps around the area of the arch. They sell at Wal-Mart for about $5, they add compression to the Fascia, and keep it from tearing. This HELP alot as you try to heal 3. Callaway makes a shoe insert. They are pricey($50), but they are gold. I have them in my golf shoes, loafers, and boots. Check them out! -
New ProV1 Series for 2011
Bigtank replied to relentlesswhitey's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have been playing the new ProV1x for about 2 months now! I love them! I've seen a slightly higher duribility (I chew a ball to pieces), but they are hot of the tee! Cosmetically I'm not sure, as Harmonius probably saw on his prototypes, mine say "test" on the side. I have seen several versions, but I believe the one they have stuck on is a winner! -
Thonchai Jaidee reached the green from tee box
Bigtank replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Tour Talk
There is an article about a 16 year old in Golf Digest this month. Kid hit it 420'ish of the tee to win a sectional long drive qualifier. Any of those long hitters on tour can take take it 330-350 on a regular basis. You through in some wind and well there is your 380's. I've seen Bubba in college (we went to school together) hit it 320yds uphill and bounce it of the driving range house at our University's golf course....all day long. He had to stop when he flew the house an into the parking lot. -
Are Staff bags pretentious??
Bigtank replied to Newc's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have several staff bags.....*gasp* with my name on them...the horror! The newest versions are no longer made of leather and are much lighter. I stuck my 2010 Mizuno 10.5" Tour staff bag on scale it was right at 10 lbs. Everyone says how inconvenient they are, yet you see someone with a stand bag having to carry several items, all of which are contained in my staff bag. I can carry rain gear, extra towel, pair of shoes, extra socks, all the knick-knacks i want, and a few energy bars. There is a valuables dry pocket, and thermal insulated cold pocket for bottled water. Then there is the fact that my clubs don’t get hung up when putting them in the bag. It also protects my clubs very well, and I bought a off the rack travel cover. The billboard argument doesn’t hold water…these are the same guys in their Taylor made hat, with their Taylor Made head covers, and Adidas Shoes…it is what it is. So in closing the bags are not so bad….that being said, I still use my ping hoofer from college…again *gasp* it has my name on it too...the humanity!
