In Florida, I think the consensus is that Seminole in North Palm Beach and TPC Sawgrass are the best. Seminole usually ranks in the Top 10 Nationwide. There are tons of other really good courses, including a very high concentration of them in the Naples area in Southwest Florida.

The best course I have played in Sweden is probably Åtvidabergs Golfclub. Haven't been to USA yet, so haven't played any US-ish golfclubs, but some day I will! :D

Fox Run regularly ranks pretty high on the list of public courses. Valhalla is probably better, but a private course is automatically disqualified in my book (except Augusta).

Fargo ND - General consensus is Edgewood. ( www.fargogolf.net ) Although I haven't played the Country Club so that might be okay as well.

North Dakota as a whole:

Hawktree in Bismarck - www.hawktree.com
Bully Pulpit in Medora - http://www.medora.com/attractions/golf/index.html
Links of ND in Ray - www.linksofnorthdakota.com

Haven't played Bully Pulpit or Links yet (plan on playing them this summer) but from looks and through the grapevine those are the three best in ND.

best public in Maryland is Pete Dye's Bulle Rock (though not always my favorite); best private (and best overall) would be Baltimore Country Club (Tillie's Five Farms) and the blue course at Congressional (host of the 1997 and 2011 US Open and Tiger's tournament).

In my hometown it would have to be Karsten Creek. In Tulsa, it would have to be Southern Hills and in the Oklahoma City area it is probably the Oak Tree Championship course.

How long is your golfing season there? I imagine it would be pretty short considering Sweden is a bit further north than the US.

I completely forgot about our Edgewood at Lake Tahoe. You may have seen this course on TV. It hosts the annual Celebrity Golf Championship. Since ShadowCreek is private, I am replacing it with Edgewood.

Bulle Rock looks great. I definitely have to hit that up someday. I saw some of your golf excursions. Hope you played the 17th hole well @ Sawgrass!

I've played Broadmoor, honestly wasn't that impressed at all. Neither was my dad or brother.

We did play the Mountain Course though, and loved it. Although it didn't get nearly as much attention.

I haven't played it yet myself, but dad and brother have. That course is so tough, I think my bro shot 99 and birdied 17! He's not a very good putter but made a monster putt for the 2.

Generally... people who don't know about Northern MI as a golf destination are missing out. There are a lot of courses, therefore prices are kept in check due to competition. If you live in the Midwest and are thinking of taking your next golf vacation in typical places like Myrtle, Sandhills, or Florida... you may want to consider Northern MI. In the summer the weather is perfect, usually not over 80-85, and often in the 70's. The scenery in Northern MI is unmatched as well.

hehe i actually parred the 17th at sawgrass and was sooo lucky to even have that chance--look where the ball stopped. only time i've ever really worried about falling in the drink while putting.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/erova/2...7604009050804/ bulle rock is a great modern course. if you find yourself over here, play bulle rock and find time to play Tom Doak's Beechtree course, which is only a few minutes away...two completely different tracks but both are worth at least one visit...

Played there pretty soon after it was reopened. Was actually where my wife and I went on our honeymoon. I thought it was amazing.

The nicest course in Arkansas is probably one that will never be seen by a HUGE majority of people. The Alotian. No website, cant see it from the road, extremely high end. http://www.arkansasbusiness.com/alotian/cover.asp Number 3 in Americas greatest golf retreats behind Augusta and Pine Valley, not bad for Arkansas anyway http://www.golfdigest.com/golfdigest...retreats2.html

    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
