Silly question: What exactly is the point of the golf glove?

I use cord grips and to not use a glove with those things is asking for pain...lol. But with the new tackier kinds of grips, or even a one like the GP tour velvet, you probably dont need a glove unless its really muggy outside.

I've worn gloves only once that I can remember- played the second 18 of my PAT in the rain and bought a pair between rounds.

So my question to those that do wear a glove... when do you take it off?
For putting?
Do you chip with it on?
Bunker shots?
Pitch shots?
Is there a distance or shot when it's no longer needed?

I take the glove off between every shot where I would require a glove. I also alternate 2 gloves a round.

Anything less than a full swing doesn't require a glove for me (which is about 100 in)

I wear one because it protects my hands from blisters at least a little bit and because I get sweaty since I hit so many golf balls per day.

I don't putt with it on, but do chip with it.

I take off my glove walking to my next shot and any time wedge on in to the green. I never putt with a glove. ??Who would??

I live in Colorado where its pretty dry, but even in Hawaii my hands don't sweat enough to need a glove. So I don't wear one. If it looks like rain, sometimes I carry a pair of rain gloves, and I often wear one in the early season until my hands callous up a bit.

the point of the golf glove is so that, during the summer when the sun is bearing down on you and you get yourself a real good farmer tan, you have one hand that's very pale by comparison and your friends can laugh and call you "pale hand."

also something about holding onto the club better, i dunno.

Don't wear a glove. Never have. New Decade Multicomp grips work fine even when it's hot (plus, I guess I don't sweat out of my hands very much).

Another vote for no glove. I've gone both ways, but it's been years since I used one. Just don't see the need to spend the cost of a sleeve of balls on a half pair of gloves. My hands don't slip and I've never gotten blisters or calluses.

Not to go off target but how would wearing a glove affect your putting?

I used to wear one religously up until this year.

i have worn a glove like 5 times in my life i hate the things,my hands have never been to sweaty to hold a club,i feel like when i dont wear a glove i have better feel,and im a feel type player so thats my reason to not wear one,o and im cheap lol

My hands are calloused to the point that it doesn't matter. I pretty much have no feeling in spots because it's a hard shell.
