I always start by chipping around the green. I do 6 shots with each club PW,SW,50,54,58 to get my arms loosened up and get a feel for green roll-out. I then spend about 15 minutes putting - 5 minutes of putts within 5 ft, 5 minutes from 5-10ft, and then 5 minutes from greater than 10 ft or studying grain/break.

I then move off to the side and take 5 swings with each Iron, hybrid, wood, and driver. I am just focusing on getting my back loosened up as well as making sound swing paths.

I head to the tee box about 10 minutes early. Spend most of that time getting everything in place for the round and finish with a little light leg stretching and upper-body twists.

I rarely hit balls on the range before a round anymore because I feel that I often try to work on new things and new techniques which often give me some fits on the first couple holes. I have learned to save the practice and technique work for practice days to get best results.

Curious as to what your SW loft is? Seems like having a SW, 54* and 58* would result in some redundancy or, at the very least, some weird distance gapping.

I agree big time on the dangers of falling into "fix it" mode when hitting the range immediately prior to the round, I avoid it too. I wish I had the option of just hitting 5-6 balls on the range to see what the "swing of the day" will yield in terms of ball flights but that's rarely an option so I usually just skip it all together unless a playing partner is hitting the range and is willing to donate me a few balls.

Your warm up routine is pretty much the same as mine. Get a feel for the greens right away and then just make sure I'm loosened up.

I know everyone has a different approach to warming up before a round, from two hours of hitting balls, chips and putts, to pulling up to the course 10 minutes before your tee time.  What works best for you?

I smoke a cigaret, crack my knuckles then smoke one right down the middle like a boss! Then I address the ball for my approach shot to the green,... and top it 30yrds! Like a douche!

I start with a 5-part dynamic stretching routine for about 10 minutes.

Next, I will hit a few pitch and chip shots to the practice green. Then I will go to the practice range hitting line, and hit a few partial shots just to check my contact and alignment. After that, I'll hit about 20 full shots to see how things are flying that day.

Then, I place everything back in the bag (quick inventory!) except for my putter, and practice putting until my group gets the on-deck call.

Total time: about 40 minutes.

(If it's been a couple of weeks since I played, I'll hit some balls the night before.)

Focus, connect and follow through!

Ernest,

I warm up with both my SW and gap wedges, while doing so, I am trying to get a feel for how firm the ground is that day. My SW loft is 50, same as my 50 gap wedge, but i've got significantly different degrees of bounce between these two clubs. Whichever club is suiting the ground conditions better on that particular play will be the club I leave in the bag to play with (usually i just always carry 15 clubs because I don't play competitively and my playing partners don't care)

Sometimes I am amazed at how much difference I can get between the two different bounces depending on the ground condition.

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
