I had the same thoughts when I first joined the forum from reading various things by others, watching the videos and reading transcripts of Dave and Eric defending S&T.  So when givin my first piece of advice I attributed it as coming from a S&T stand point instead of taking it at face value.  I started trying to change other things because S&T was in the back of my head.  I feal now like this was very detrimental to my learning a fact which I am now trying to rectify.  I don't post a lot in my My swing thread cause I kind of feal like a mooch when I do and would rather enroll in evolver But I am still trying to apply what I've learned so far. Take it from someone who is working on their stupidmonkeyfu Bottom Line @craps is your not spending any money so start my swing thread listen to the advice objectively and apply as tho it's not coming from any specific angle. These guys are professionals and have helped a lot of swings many of which are still around and posting to testify.  If it doesn't work for you delete your videos and walk away what are you out?

I am liking the feel of the lead leg folding in while the back leg straightens. It seems easier to keep the head steady and there is a certain feel of power.I think that is why I also like the inside path takeaway which is my natural tendency anyway,it feels powerful.

Note: I do not answer direct questions or points raised against my untested and unproven theories, have no history of teaching anyone, and post essentially the same nonsense in everyone's Member Swing threads.

Yep, it makes the centered pivot piece a lot easier. Knee linkage helps the hips turn and rotate on a steep enough pitch which allows the shoulders to do the same.

Ok now let's get back on topic, thanks.

Most instructors teaches:

Square stance to target line.

Square hips.

Square shoulders.

Fairly strong grip.

Club face slightly open.

Swing to 1:00 O'clock.

Why not Ernie Els setup ? Square everything and neutral grip and swing to 12 O'Clock?

Years ago... Ernie was my hero. I did everything "Ernie-style".... my friend used to call me Ernie (hehe). But the big difference was that my swing was terrible and I had a huge fade (err... slice, ok,ok). After spending a number of months in Evolvr and reading LSW... things have started to straighten out. My latest setup change was with the driver by moving the ball forward, teeing higher and closing the stance (adds a bit of a draw). Still working on the ball position with the irons. Oh, and yes... I still like Ernie .... just changing up the swing for what works for me (smile).

The set up has to be overrated and proven so by the likes of Padraig Harrington doing the running start with a driver and other guys on youtube doing all kinds of crazy set up swings but flushing the shot.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
