Is anyone on this forum a Club pro? I have heard that pga pro's have an unwritten rule to play free golf anywhere they go. I want to verify this since that would be so sweet.

I work at a salt lake city owned golf course and get free golf at every city owned course (which is 7 different ones).

PGA pro's do in theory have the right to play any golf course for free, however not all clubs allow this for example the Wisley (in England) is so exclusive only members can play it, similarly I very much doubt a club pro could play Augusta for the same reasons as the Wisley.

Everardo is right working at clubs can provide helpful contacts at other clubs, however this privilege/advantage can apply to members, for example a member I know knows the caddy master at the London club (host of this years European Open) so there is the possibility I could get a bag for the week (although this is unlikely for a big event such as the European Open, I know a few boys that caddied during the Senior tour event being held there)

Another way of playing courses free/cheaper is to join a golf club which is owned by a company that runs a chain of different courses, which means you can often play other courses that are part of that chain for either a much cheaper price or for free.

I don't know about this. I know when Kirk Triplett was in Oakmont for the US Open he had to pay for him and his son to play a local course--so I have to say no.

It depends a lot as well...PGA Professionals tend to have great networking skills--and whenever you're a good golfer people tend to want you to play

If i was working at my local muni, and Tiger Woods (or John Daly or even Happy Gilmore for that matter) came up to the clubhouse, I'd most certainly give him a free round. Celebrities (including athletes) get things for free ALL THE TIME!!! You think Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears had to pay to get into night clubs?
