I need to buy a new driver tomorrow morning so here are my options!

I have been hitting the ball with around a 109-122 MPH swing speed.

I'm 6'2", 160 lbs.

I drive the ball around 270 on average but that gets hurt because of a slice on occasion (i am on my way to fixing this and i don't want to get a "draw" driver to help me in the meantime. This is a problem that needs to get fixed, not "slightly corrected" with the help of an offset club).

With this info, what driver would you guys recommend?

The ones i'm looking at right now are the PING G10 with a UST V2, a Titleist 907D2 with a UST V2 or a Cleveland HiBore with a red shaft. I'm thinking either a 9.5 or 8.5 loft but i'm not sure whether to go with a stiff or extra stiff. I need to get this club tomorrow morning so help me please! Any suggestions, including and aside from these 3 drivers, would be great!

With a 109-122 MPH swingspeed, I think you are swinging too hard and trying to kill it.

If you slowed your swing down, you can get the same If not better results in distance and accuracy. Its not the driver thats making your slice. But if you really want a new one.

I suggest the Taylormade Burner stiff shaft. 9.5*

I see you have the HiBore on your shortlist, im a pretty fast swinger too and tall and the HiBore is perfect for me. It was the longest out of all of the clubs i tried too. The XLS is supposed to be even better again!

You've got a pretty impressive list narrowed down, really I don't see how you could go too terribly wrong with any. Based on what I've hit in demos and what I've read about I'd lean toward that HiBore, I see in your sig that you have the older HiBore, use this as a baseline, do you like it? Probably not if you're looking to get a new driver, but if you honestly like the HiBore you have and feel good about going with another go for that XLS, Stiff or Extra Stiff is up to you and the launch monitor.

Good luck!!

Ain't nothing more fun than pulling the trigger on buying a new driver.

Something magical about taking it out that first round.

Good luck with whatever you choose. I'll be following you within the month. Leaning towards the PING G-10 with the V2 high launch stiff in 10.5. I don't generate the clubhead speed that you do.

If I were to reccommend a driver for based on the ones that I have hit recently, I would go with the TM Burner, R7 425, or the Ping G10 V2. Especially the Ping. It might be the only driver out there that could get me off of my r580 kick... The Buner and the g10 are both about 46 inches so you should probabably have them fitted to be sure, though.

I chose the Ping G10 recently (10.5, stiff) and love it. I was using an old Taylormade 300ti. Obviously a great improvement - I hit the ball much straighter and the distance has been good (for me at least).

I just bought a Nickent 9 deg tour stiff. It's a wonderful driver for a pretty good golfer.

I think if u can hit it consistently with your swing speed u could use the Burner TP, I also reccomend the 907 D2, and the R7 Superquad.

If you don't rush into purchasing your driver you could try some of these mentioned out. It's mostly preference, and I would strongly suggest going to a pro shop and trying out every driver and making your decision from there. I personally use the Simpac S-Cube D1 and I absolutely love it.

Same drivers (

to and from ) here. Which shaft did you select? What was the trajectory change with the new driver? I'm looking forward to upgrading soon. I played my second full round today since laying off a couple of years. I can honestly say that my irons and wedges are solid, accurate and fun to use. The low traj driver and 3-wood need to go. I may go with driver...4 wood....hybrid....3-LW. Sorry to get off target, JYB.....which driver are you gonna get?

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
