I have been trying out several different brands and variations, but just finally found some Gamers in a store (an hour from my house) and played them for 18. I hate all other Top Flite balls except the Freak(long off the tee), but the Gamers are awesome. I shot my best ever round with the Gamer, I know it probably wasn't the ball but it sure helped. I thought it might not be as long as other balls I have played, but I was wrong it is a very long ball. This ball seemed to be very nice putting also, felt medium-soft while putting, and it stops nice when chipping. On the last hole I miss hit a driver and I have never seen a ball spin so much it took a direct right hand turn(into a neighboring fairway) but none the less it made a very sharp turn. I have finally found a ball I'll be playing from now on, I just wish they were easier to find in stores.Guess I'll have to order a few boxes.

For pretty cheap 3 piece balls the Gamer and Wilson Zip are the two most impressive in that category that I have found. Both have a good feel and good ball flight, but are around $20 or less per dozen.

I just bought a sleeve of three to try out. These are definitely my new ball. Sure, they aren't the best I've used, but the best I've used aren't worth the extra $20-25 more for my needs.

I tried them when I got a free pack but can't imagine buying a dozen for $20. That puts each ball at over a dollar a piece.

A side note, 50/50s are being discounted to $10 and Zips down to $15 many places on the web.

I got 2 dozen of 50/50's at $12 so I bought 4 dozens, so I am currently playing those. After that I'll play the ProV1's that I found on the course. Then once I exhaust those, I'll have to pay $20 for the Gamers since they are the best for the money IMO but still expensive.

cant wait to finally find them somewhere and give 'em a try...play a bit of a slice though so dont know if i'd want a big spinner, but its worth a try i guess

Goals: Correct slice on driver/long clubs(close!), work on consistent iron distance, practice aiming irons

Yeah - They are really a decent ball. If you're not into playing a "name" I think these deserve a serious round or two. I like 'em.

You have how many dollars in clubs and $1 a ball is too much? Not trying to be condascending(sp?), just doesn't make sense to me.

I guess I value golf balls differently than my clubs, probably is due to the fact that I lose about 2 golf balls on average per round. Also, I have only bought one box of new balls since I've started thanks to a member on here and the price of the golf balls seem expensive.

Now I'm on the fence, Top Flite Gamers or ProV1 X-Outs. The X-Outs are about $23 and Gamers $20.

Absolutely pathetic packaging, dimples, alignment (unless you dont line up your putts or draw huge sharpie lines), feel, workability, feel around the green, softness. Spend a couple more bucks and get a low end Titleist Ball or low end Srixon (such as a Srixon soft feel).

I liked them too. They shred like butter after a well hit wedge, but I think for the money they are well worth it.

Still think they are a great inexpensive ball, played again with one today - still like the feel. I didn't realize they are made by Callaway - go figure - I normally play the Tour iX.

guess I won't get a chance to play these Gamers anytime soon...my mom gardens at our local CC and just dropped the motherload of balls on me (that she picked out of flowerbeds) including ~3doz. ProV1/V1x

:D lucky me!

  • 3 weeks later...
I have read alot of good reports on the Top Flite Gamer's so decided to try some. I normally hit the Taylormade TP Red and I gotta say I ahve never been so disappointed with a ball, I know they are cheap, but they are not even in the ball park of the TP red, I gave the rest of the box away. They fly ok off the driver, but I do not like them around the greens and thats what its all about for me, even the noise off my putter was annoying. Well I'll just stay with the TP reds....

I play PRO-V1s and just lost a new ball in the bushes the last round that over $3 a ball.

I will have to try the gamer for the price and see how it performs for about a $1 a ball its worth a try and I do not like them I can always give them to my 14 year old son.

    • The dreaded 6 o'clock shadow. 🤣
    • 47+49 for a 96. Just lost it today. Two way miss off the tee. Could not hit a decent iron. Three putted like at least 8 holes. Not good when the short game is the best part of the day 😭😭
    • Phillyk is very close by. Ok, I understand how the watch and tags are meant to be used, but I was just curious how it actually works. I can't really think of any other way than what I mentioned above. No worries. If it works it works. I'll probably pick one up. My co-worker mentioned a free app called 18 Birdies which offers similar services. However I personally do not like keeping my phone in my pocket while golfing, nor do I want to be clicking around on the phone while out on the course. I toss my phone in my bag and leave it there until I am done golfing. Tapping a club head to a watch seems wat more convenient.
    • Yes, but not always the case. IMHO, green speeds are a huge variable and can effect score variation from week to week or month to month significantly. Our own course that is running at about 8-9 depending on the week/day, can run up to 12 (no kidding) in peak months around certain event, and most like me score 3-4 shots higher on an average, missing a lot of 3-4 footers. There are any PCC adjustments that I am aware of. Have you every played their course? I am betting $20 you will find some answers if you haven't already.
