I always check out the used bin at my local Carl's Golfland (Michigan chain) and just found a used (didn't even look hit more than 5 times) forged Scratch JLM PDG 60 degree wedge for $45 (was marked $90, but 50% off all used clubs). I pretty much found similar deals on my 52 and 56 degree Vokeys and got my Taylor Made Burner TP Tour Spoon for around $140 I think - looked like new.

I've seen some Scotty Cameron putters used for $70ish at a Play-It-Again Sports. I don't need that much of a putter (and the shaft was one of those really long ones) so I didn't buy it but it looked like it was in pretty good condition.

I found mine at the Plymouth store yesterday. Everything else looked pretty beat up as far as the wedges go, but they had quite a few hybrids and woods that I would have bit on if I wasn't happy with what I have.

Thanks, I'm looking for a 48* Vokey (I'll go new if I can't find used easily). I have picked up some hybrids in those giant drums for my son last year but the more I go in there the more money I spend lol.

I've been through the Golfsmith store's rack a few times but their prices always seem so high relative to new ones.

I got most of my stuff from the Bloomfield store. But I go to the Plymouth store more because Golfsmith is a few minutes from there also.

Yeah, Golfsmith is a ripoff in the used club area, but I think that's in large part to their "90-90" policy.

I'm very fortunate to live 30 mins from the retail location of clubfinders golf (

http://www.clubfinders.com ). You could say the whole place is a used bin! They have a corner of the store with nothing but wedges from almost brand new to beat up. I bought a set of Wilson staff tw5s for less than 50 bucks, and before that got a nice 56* Vokey for only 20 something (I recently had it refinished and regrooved...so I'm gaming it again). I love used gear!

My entire set is used, not a single club was purchased new. Most were purchased at Golf Galaxy. Driver was $60, 3w was $45, 5w was $80, 2h was $45, 3h&4h were $30ea, irons (3-pw) were $225 minus $50 coupon so call it $175, Vokey's ran $45ea, putter is so old I can't recall but maybe $15.

There are some killer deals out there for equipment that is only a few years old and in good shape.

Goodwill is where it's at. I've bought all of the following for between 1.25 and 2.50.

Scotty Cameron Santa Fe Putter (In My Bag)
Bob Vokey Wedge 56*
Oddessy Dual Force Putter
Ben Hogan Radial Irons 3-9 ($1 Each) (9 Iron In My Bag)
Ping 3 Wood

I've seen but havent bought
Several TM Drivers
Several Callaway Drivers
2002 Big Bertha Irons
Ping Putter

Basically it is the best place for finding a great deal.

I've spent probablly 50-100 dollars at goodwill and have bought clubs with a thousand dollars or more value. Right now I have 2 full decent to above average back up sets or sets I let others use which are made up of mostly goodwill clubs.

Over the years I have bought a lot of used clubs from '2nd Swing Golf', 'Golf Galaxy' and 'Play it Again Sports'. I have gotten some good deals, although I do it more because of return policy on used clubs. Unlike new you can return used clubs within a period (usually 30 days) for full price or at least full credit and this allows me to truly try the clubs on the course over a few rounds - makes all he difference in the world. I have found lots of clubs for great prices in great shape.

A few years ago I was browsing through a local 'Play it Again Sports' and came across a new Nickent Genex driver that I had just seen in one of golf magazines as just being released with MSRP of $400 (probably street $300). It looked as if it had never been hit and even had head cover for $30. The brand was so new at that time that I do not think they knew what they had and thought it was a generic or knockoff since no one in the area carried Nickent yet. I bought it with intention to resell it on eBay, but made the mistake of taking it to range and really loved it. At the time I was not a particularly good driver, but that changed quickly with this driver and I ended up keeping it for a couple years and hit it great. Funny thing is, about a year and a half after I bought it (and probably close to 50 rounds with it plus, range time) I finally sold it on eBay for $110 (it sold the same day I listed it at 'Buy It Now' price).

I wish 2nd Swing was still in business. I really liked that they had a huge stock as opposed to other used options (and I do not like buying on eBay/Craig's List/etc. simply because I want to see and try used clubs first).

    • Why should SuperSpeed get 3x of Stack's profits? I get the part about SuperSpeed wanting damages sustained as a result of Stack, but I don't get why SuperSpeed feels that they're entitled to both Stack's profits and damages.   Does anyone know/think SuperSpeed actually has a case here?
    • https://static1.squarespace.com/static/603d222df4a6a57df7ef3e29/t/663cdba5d89e3a1848dab8d1/1715264422455/US_DIS_ILND_1_24cv3749_d34676497e293_COMPLAINT_filed_by_SuperSpeed_Golf_LLC_Jury_Demand.pdf The full complaint is there, but  basically, SuperSpeed (SS*) is claiming the Stack System (SS*) Stack System’s [sic] produces inflated metrics later used to, [sic] mislead and deceive consumers. Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
