Last Saturday I was playing at Bulle Rock in MD. My round was not going....but on hole 11 I hit two excellent shots. The 11th hole is a 596 yards from the blue.

http://www.bullerockgolf.com/page/144-25179.htm

My first shot had a nice draw...caught a slope & went 300 yards. My 2nd shot...with a 3 wood....another with a nice draw....ended up 5 feet from the front of the green. I ended up with a par...but those two shots made my day!

fyi...I normal average around 240 yards with my driver.

The two shots that come to mind.

First was a 7-wood second shot into a par 5 green. The ball stopped 3 ft from the pin....I made the knee-knocker for eagle.

The second was a lob wedge second shot on a par 4. The high wedge bounced one time and rolled sideways two feet into the hole for eagle.

Best thing about both shots were that I was playing with some friends. We had some laughs about the eagles that were followed by bogeys.

Have played Bullerock several times, well done. my best shot ever was slam dunking an 8 iron at Wyncote from about 150...it took a huge crater out of the side of the cup...that was fun.

One will always stick out for me...

Short par three pin tucked back left, one of my playing partners said "Wow, that's a sucker pin." I replied with "not really with that mound behind the pin you can throw it back there and suck back in the hole." I preceded to do exactly that. Hole in one was great! calling my shot was priceless.

I certainly had some great shots that year - made a couple of eagles and even a hole in one, but none of those shots i would consider my best shots.

My second best shot had to be punched sliced 5iron from the rough under and around trees and getting it somehow on the green - making the 30footer for birdie certainly helped to elevate the previous shot.

And my best shot - a simple 3wood of the tee on hole #1 - it did nothing special but to land in the middle of the fairway, nobody ahhed or applauded, it wasnt the longest 3wood i ever hit, but it had to be the purest i EVER struck - just perfect trajectory and flight path. There is no way i will be able to hit a ball purer in the coming years.

Yeah, I'm going to go down this route. I've had few and far between "amazing" shots so far, I just generally play along at an averagely consistent pace which nets me ok scores, but the one shot I still remember was just my 4h off the tee on an ever so slight blind dogleg. I decided I was going to play a little baby draw and set it up on the corner for an approach, and that's what happened. The ball flight had me mesmerised, the feeling of contact with the ball was heavenly, and the shot shape was exactly as I'd planned.

Let's not talk about the rest of the hole, but for me that was the highlight of my year.

Two of my better ones actually came in the same round as well. We were playing a charity scramble, interestingly enough, at the course I posted for the "Which course owes you some payback" thread. And both were situationally great more so than they were just conventional great shots.

1.) Tough par-3 and I was last to go off the tee - first 2 in the water, no up/down look from the other. So I changed clubs and honestly laid up short left (water is right) because my chances of hitting the green were slimmish, but I figured I could give us a good up/down look. Screwed up the shot, left it 35yd short, but still had a better look than the other ball in play. I felt bad trying to play safe and screwing it up, so I said - I'll get us up/down for par. Didn't have to; dripped it from the botched lay-up spot. As perfect as I can pitch a ball - soft landing, slow release, and left to right into the cup just like a putt. My club was in the air when the ball was 5' from the cup, and even the group behind us on the tee cheered.

2.) About 135, middle of the fairway, we needed a birdie to have any chance at winning and all four of us missed the green. Luckily we bought one of the $5 mulligans at the start ( charity scramble guys, give me a break...) so I said I'll take it. Put a 9-iron to about 2 feet, got our 3, and didn't even come close to winning anyway. But still, a had-to-have-it situation that felt great to come through for the team.

2 of my best shots ever were on par 3's.
1. Last summer at Mcleansboro Golf course in Mcleansboro, IL. Hole 5, 160 yard par 3. Hit a 6 iron to 4 feet and made birdie.
2. Earlier this summer in July. Indian Hills golf course in Mt Vernon, IL. Hole 13, 177 yard par 3. Hit my 5 hybrid to 3 feet and made birdie.
Those to date are my closest ever shots to making a hole in one, maybe someday I'll get a lucky bounce and get one to go in.

Also i have hit a 3 wood to 3 ft from 180 yards

I was caddying for a 9 hole scramble tournament at our club, and on the par 3's (2 of them) the member's bet on closest to hole from shots hit by caddies. This is where my two best shots in a round came from.

#3 162 yds, first guy chunks it 30 yards, second guy hits it short of the green. I grabbed my members 7 iron, and in my whites, put it 4 feet. Won $60

#5 167 yds downhill. first guy puts it on about 40 feet, second guy puts it to 6 feet past, but looked inches from the tee. I grabbed same 7 iron, and hit 6" past the stick and rolled to 2". Almost holed it. Won another $60. Made over $3 bills that day from that.

Ironically, they were the only two shots I hit the entire day. HA

Just happened last Wed at Glendoveer (West) in Portland, OR. Playing from the tips (black tees). 500 yd par 5 9th hole (my 18th as I played the back 9 first). Belted my drive about 270 yds into a bit of a head wind. Fairways were soft, no roll at all. My next shot was a 230 yd 3 wood off a sidehill (ball above my feet) / uphill lie to a green that was slightly uphill, straight in front, but trees on the right so I couldn't utilize the natural draw of the slope to bring it in (and yes, I factored all this in to my next shot). I aimed just at the edge of the trees on the right and caught my 3-wood perfect and it went straight at the pin. It bounced up onto the green and ended up in the middle of the green, 20 ft. short of the back pin.

Greens were recently 'plugged' so my eagle try bounced off line at the end, but I made an easy tap-in birdie. Easily 2 of my best shots in a row. Oh...and the kicker was I had just caught up with someone else for the last 3 holes (trying to finish twilight - 3 hour round by myself, mostly). This usually messes me up, but I finished PAR, PAR, BIRDIE to tie my lowest score of 77 (par 71).

Last year played at Bury St Edmunds in UK.355 yd par 4,slighty downhill, with a dog-leg right at about 270 with bunkers on the left.It was a bit windy to our backs, took out driver thinking I would drop short of the bunkers, blasted it and went 302 yds.

A month ago hit a straight push on a dog-leg left, ended up in light rough. My partner lasered it,and I was 244 away.Took out my 16" hybrid, and went through the green just pured it and felt like an easy wedge swing, chipped back and sunk the putt for a birdie 4.

I think the 2 best shots I ever hit in one round came on 17 and 18 of a tournament that I was playing in. 17 was a 205 yard par 3 that I stuck my 4 iron to 3 feet, made birdie. 18 was a par 5, dont remember how far but I had 101 yards on my 3rd shot to the flag and slam dunked it in for an eagle... I won the tournament by 1 stroke, I shot a 69 in the final round... Who would have thunk it....lol

Narrowing down best shot is a little tough but I'll opt for two of my most clutch/best shots ever.

U.S. Open qualifier in Georgia. Through 6 holes with only 1 birdie while another player in my group is 5 under. I am dead in the middle of the fairway and 145 away from a tucked pin. I wanted to hit a 9 right at the flag, he wants me to hit 8 to the back of the green. He starts to storm off when I choose 9. I dunk it for an eagle. He walks back.

First Hooters Tour qualifier and I end up in a 6 way play off. Nervous as hell I end up pushing my drive pretty deep into the woods. The rest of my group is sitting right in the middle of the fairway no more than 150 out. I see a small gap between two of the trees and somehow squeek the ball through. The other five end up hitting the green and I am sitting 75 yards out. Hit the ball right over the center of the flag and spin the ball back about 6 feet right into the cup. No one else makes birdie. I qualify.

3 wood off the tee on a long par three to 3 feet below the cup and the putt for my first ever birdie. Many years ago but unforgetable.

Tee shot today on #3. Took my 7 iron out and really put some spin on it from the looks of that ball mark.

My next tee shot went OB so that shot definitely stood out, considering it was the only one that was picture worthy
