They didn't make an '09 Burner 3 wood. They made an '07 Burner, an '08 Burner (High Launch and Tour Launch), and the '10 Superfast Burner.

As of December '09 he was using a Nike DYMO: http://blogs.golf.com/equipment/2009/12/bag-of-the-day-anthony-kim.html He could have changed since, he has used a SUMO and an Adams 1 hybrid in the past.

In my bag:

I don't know TM products well enough to distinguish which year it was, but I saw it too. Are you confused by it being a TaylorMade or by there not being an '09 version (according to an above post)? I can't comment on the latter, but I suspect his equipment contract with Nike specifies around ten clubs (that's typical) and probably something about his appearance and clothing.

The ten-club thing typically is some combination of driver, irons and wedges. Many players deviate on their fairway woods, given how hard it is to find one you like, even at their level. And given Mr. Cameron's propensity for making putters for tour players, many will take them as offered.

I'm just glad my friend who loves Taylormade products is on vacation. He'd never let me forget it if he knew AK had one in the bag.

What's so confusing about it? Players do this all the time.

Players will typically sign an 11, 12, or 13 club deal w/ a club sponsor. I believe AK has an 11 club deal w/ Nike. So, he can shoot that TM wood if he chooses too.

Look at the winner's bags of tournaments this year. Aside from Els, everyone of them had at least one club in their bag that isn't from their club sponsor.

It's nothing new and it's not really a big deal.

For those wishing confirmation, golf.com's feature on the winner's bags ( http://blogs.golf.com/equipment/2010...equipment.html ) says that it was a TM strong 3-Wood. He also carried a Scotty Cameron, but the other 12 clubs (Driver, 4-Wood, 3-L, !G) were Nike.

Not a problem. Like I said, a club sponsor will require a player to carry a certain number of their clubs. Only 2 of 14 AK's clubs weren't Nike.

I wondered how those sponsorship deals worked. Making them carry a certain minimum number of clubs from your own line makes a ton of sense. 10 or 11 is a good number. I'm usually a TM guy, but I'd have a tough time carrying any more than 9 or 10 of their clubs. I only carry 2 right now.

What's in my Sun Mountain C-130 bag:

Driver - Taylormade Superfast 2.0 TP 10.5
3 Wood - Taylormade Burner 15* REAX
Hybrid - Adams Idea Pro 18* GD YSQ-HL

Irons - Callaway X-18 4-PW

GW - Cleveland 588 51*

SW - Cleveland CG 12 56*

LW - Cleveland CG15 60*

Putter - Cameron Studio Style Newport 2

Sure, but look at your X-18s. That's another 7 clubs right there. If you were offered a good sum of money to have 10 TMs in the bag, would you consider the TaylorMade irons that compete with the X-18s?

I'm not suggesting you run out and replace your X-18s, but it's not as if TaylorMade and Callaway have radically different clubs, so it's not impossible to imagine someone making the switch.
