I've hit a ton of them, so far it's my Ping G10 5w with Proforce V2 HL shaft. Very solid feeling, very easy to hit off the deck, good distance, perfect trajectory for a 5w.

I love my Titleist 909f3 15*. Great fairway wood with a classic shape.

With that said, I still reach for my Callaway X-tour 3fw once in awhile...if it wasnt for the steel shaft, I would've stuck with it but the deal I got on my Titleist 909f3 would've cost similar to reshafting the Callaway.

I like both my fairway woods currently in my bag.

And, until I got them I played Tour Edge Bazooka 3W and 5W. Low profile heads that could produce some great shots. Put them away when I went back to regular shafts.

But, the best one was a Sounder 4W which I played from 1976 until 1984. Got it and the 3W from a pro in Virginia. 4W had a very small head, and was super out of light to medium rough. Almost like a hybrid, before there were hybrids.

Sounder was a small, semi-custom operation down in Florida. Not sure what happened to it. Lots of old-time club pros remember the company.

For a long time I had best luck overall with fairway woods. Guess that's why I carry two.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I like my Mizuno T-Zoid Forged 3W, even if it's almost 10 years old (new to me for $20 a few weeks ago). It's a "hybrid fairway wood" or something, from the beginning of the hybrid era. The head is very shallow, but fairly wide, so I hit it very well off the turf which is great since I often leave myself long approaches, even on moderate-length par 4s. The first time I took it out to the range, I hit it better than I'd ever hit any club in my life --- it was like I couldn't swing wrong if I wanted to. It's been a little more back-to-reality since then, but it's been a great addition to my game.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Hey guys whats your favorite fairway wood, 3w etc?

I had a Burke 3-wood (perwimmon - original leather grip) that would hook or slice at almost 90 degree angles - that thing was amazing on dog legs. Now I play safe or cut the corner in the air - memories . . .

I really like my Titleist 5 wood, but for some weird reason it's a spare bag in the basement, I guess this week, I like my 19.5 degree Fybrid a little better.

Tough to beat the SQ2. Even the VR Fairway wood is not as good in my opinion.

its a great wood. very good price right now too. At a local shop here, saw it as low as 80$ with steel shaft.

Not to hijack this thread, but what's everyone's distances with their woods? I really need something as my 3 hybrid I can hit 210 but I have nothing for anything farther. Also curious to see what people enjoy as I think I'll probably need a 3 wood here soon...

The Titleist 5-wood in my signature is my favorite I've ever swung.

Best club I ever over-payed for.

I really have confidence and enjoy hitting my Nike SQ Dymo 2 5 wood. Its the square head which I usually don't like and a regular flex, which I usually don't like, but this club is straight down the pipe everytime and I can almost always hit a good shot with it no matter the lie. Not only my favorite fairway wood, but my favorite club in my bag

As stated in another thread, imo there is not a better 3 wood on the market than the Nike Sasquatch2. Tiger still plays them and they are something like 3 years old...it will be a very sad day when I have to get rid of mine.

just look up average distance with golf clubs online, it should be pretty accurate for the us golfers.

hmm I would like to try one. Although Tiger could hit a mustard seed with a club so I dont really care that Tiger is using them, lol.

yeah my main point was that the technology in that thing is over 2 years old and he is still playing it...they definitely did everything right with this club

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
