Great for Justin Rose to finally get his 1st US PGA Tour win

His 1st win in 3 years anywhere as well, he looked 1st class this week and his game was on big style finishing with a cool 66, even JN was applauding him as he walked onto the 18th Green.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...194350,00.html

Was kinda gunning for Rickie Fowler but he made a bad swing and ended up in the water on 12, which did not help after the bogey on 10, his time will come though and soon.

...even JN was applauding him as he walked onto the 18th Green.

Why wouldn't he?

Justin played solid golf all Sunday, not carding a single bogey. He had some long putts and tricky chips that he got close for an up and down.

I know what your saying and I didn't mean it in that way, of course he would applaud the winner but he seemed to be doing it in a way that said "you played damn well son" just the way I saw it

Nice to see Justin win on the US Tour... as much as he has won worldwide, media doesn't seem to confirm a player until they have won on US soil.

I didn't agree with him turning pro after the '98 Open, but after all his documented struggles, it's nice to see he has come full circle and playing really well.

Cheers, Allan

The announcers said he works with Sean Foley. I don't see many S&T; elements in his swing, perhaps in the impact area and a little afterwards. Nice looking swing though. Like to watch this one the most out of all the English players.

Rose played about as clean of a round as you can play in the final round and he deserved to win. Folwer proves that talent doesnt always win golf tournaments. He clearly has not figured out how to win on the pro level, yet. But with the way he putts, he'll figure it out soon, though.

It took Justin 10 years to win, Rickie is still in his first. Playing a sunday afternoon is not like a Thursday, he will come around.

Well remember Foley doesn't teach Stack and Tilt, he likes to see the swing stay centered on the backswing and then move laterally on the down swing, similar to S&T; but different

LOL.

One more thing. How does Rose win the Memorial and not quality for the US Open? This is a rhetorical question.

LOL.

I know that is a rhetorical question but....

He is 33rd in the WR so should qualify as the top 50 WR do. However there must be a fixed date for the qualification, like a closign date, for example "on such a date the top 50 WR are this" and they qualify? Otherwise he would be in wouldn't he?

I know that is a rhetorical question but....

The cutoff date for 2010 world ranking and PGA Tour Money List standings was May 24. If he was entered in St Jude this weekend he could have gotten in the US Open by winning that too, but he is not playing. There is a qualifying category for "Any multiple winner of PGA Tour co-sponsored events whose victories are considered official from June 21, 2009 through June 13, 2010." So any player who has one win in that time frame, and is not already qualified, still has a shot to get in. The USGA will hold a spot in case that happens. If it doesn't then the spot will go to the overall 1st alternate.

Easy to pull for Rose as he is just a good guy. Fowler seems that way too. I can see Fowler breaking through this year.

Didn't watch the last round so during period breaks in the hockey game last nite I blew thru it...I noticed only once Faldo mentioned that they were playing "lift, clean and cheat". It seemed it was almost an accident that the camera caught a guy cleaning his ball. Did anyone notice? Like I said I watched it really fast (and a few beers) so maybe my conspiracy theory is off base.

Good win for Rose. I was at this tournament last year. Murifield is something else.. what a great course. Ran into Jack up close and personal as well when he was driving a golf cart out of his house in the middle of the course. Tiger also put on a clinic last year as well. Best golf I have ever seen

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
