So I am looking to switch to Nike golf balls. I never really pay to much attention to which ones I have hit in the past but I have not hit a Nike golf ball that I didnt like. So I am trying to decide on the Vapor or the Crush. My concern is that the Crush will be too soft like the Bridgestone e6 was. I hated that golf ball but I like the idea of less SS because of my slice. Any advice from anyone who is familiar with Nike golf balls would be appreciated.

I never hit the vapor but was checking out the box at Dick's yesterday, it had the spin rated a 6 out of 10, not sure if that is still high, according to the USGA list it is a low driver medium iron spin ball.

I have the crush, I have not hit them too often, but I liked it the few times I did hit them, but I when using my Reg flex G5's I was ballooning it, the crush is a Low Low spin ball.

the crush is low spin, vapour is mid spin.

Seems like it'd suit your SS

That is what I was thinking also but I guess I just need to hit some to make sure they are not to soft. Most of the low spin balls I have tried just seem way to soft.

Does anyone know what ball is now the One Black. As a high handicapper that slices the ball, whenever I would hit a certain shot and would look up expecting it to slice heavily, it only sliced a bit or even faded. I golfed an entire round with this ball and it's the only one I have. Found it out of a grab bag of balls for 75 cents a ball and honestly, for me it's between the pro v1's and this ball. The v1 seems to stay lower and responds nicely, and feels nice, but I hear these are expensive and usually for someone that is better. I did notice it does slice easily if I'm hitting poorly, but if I accidently hit it bluntly, not getting under it, it doesnt shoot as far over the green :) The nike One Black was very much like this but seemed more tolerant of my lesser skills.

e6? Soft? The e6 is a rock. If you're looking to get less side spin, then try top flites.

The e6 is basically a Top Flite with a Bridgestone logo.

@ OP - try something in their PD series. Cheap and long.

The Nike One Tour D is the ball that replaced the One Black... The One Tour replaced the One Platinum.

Thank you sir, I tried to look that up online but came up with a mixed bag of info.

How do you all feel about el cheapo warbirds? I seem to really hit these bad for some reason. I have 24 new ones that I'm thinking of taking back though. Sorry to hijack the thread, guess I could have just started another...

Haven't played the Warbirds... however if you hit them really bad, for whatever reason, take back what you have and replace them with something you hit better. All that matters is how YOU hit them.

I've been playing the Nike One Vapor (not the newer Vapor Speed, but I think the Vapor Speed just replaced the Vapor with minimal changes) for a couple of months now. I love the ball! It is my new ball.

I like it because it is long (i have a pretty slow swing speed so I need the distance), straight (fight a slice off the tee from time to time) and I love the feel of it off the putter. It is somewhat soft. Not as soft as a 4 piece ball or a urethene cover ball. But it is a 3 piece ball and feels good off the short irons.

The only negative is the lack of greenside spin. It does not check up very well at all. It will run on you and I have run off the green many times with it. For flop shots or short iron approach shots it lands pretty soft and doesnt roll much. But on low punch, bump-n-runs, chips, low pitch shots, etc there's not much check to it.

They are worth a try if you need some distance and want less side spin to help straighten out the long game. I would compare them to the Bridgestone E6 and the Titleist NXT

What I Play:

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Ball: Nike One Vapor

The Bridgestone guy recommended it to me at a ball fitting because they are so soft and he said it would decrease my sidespin. He gave me two sleeves of them and it is a very soft ball.

it's so soft that it would reduce sidespin?

I thought it'd be the opposite, a softer ball normally spins more.

big difference between soft cover and soft core.

the e6 has a 'softer' core for the distance advantage, while balls like prov1's have a 'softer' urethane cover for better spin.

but i wouldn't say e6's are a soft ball in any standard. sounds like jallen100 may have syked himself out of liking E6's because the fitter told him they were soft. they're great great balls imo with great spin control and good distance.

i'd say for the price range, its become a really popular ball for A LOT of people from high and low handicap.

Actually I was really excited about them until I hit them. As soon as I hit one I didnt like it. It felt like hitting a clump of mud. I had 6 of them and have tried them several times and I just don't like the feel they have.

I used the one vapor early in this season and to me it felt hard, almost, dare I say it, brittle. It was awful. I couldn't hit anything with them. I know it is a poor craftsman that blames his tools, but still. They suck. Never heard of the crush but go with them.......or something Titleist/Callaway/Srixon

    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
