So along with the new Irons i'm going to purchase this year, I'm looking for a new bag. I currently have an Olimar bag and the bag that came with my set of clubs. I'm looking for a stand bag because I will be walking occasionally for the fun of it and but am looking for as many pockets, along with hopefully 14 way top with full length dividers.. I am having trouble finding a GOOD quality bag that won't cost me $200. Any thoughts??

For a good quality stand bag with 14 full length dividers, and ample storage, your choices are limited to Titleist, Sun Mountain, and maybe Ogio. But all are in the $200 range. You may be able to save a little on Ebay, but with quality golf bags, you get what you pay for...

Nike Sasquatch bags are around $100 at Golf Galaxy's now and have 14 dividers.

Other than that the Sun Mountain Four 5 is awesome (which is also branded with a Titleist logo if you play those clubs ....same price roughly)

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Look at Goodwill and Kijiji too - seriously - a lot of people get bags for free from vendors and in charity events then either dump them on kijiji or just give them away. I got Wilson stand bag for $9 at Goodwill that was essentially brand new. It's set up for a standard set (3 woods, a putter, and a combination of 10 irons and wedges) but since that's what I use - "score!"

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

I've been checking ebay, lookin at the Nike SQ tour stand bag, has everything I want and been seeing it for less than 125. I've been making a killing on ebay in the past year golf wise. Cleveland 48 degree PW for 20 dollars plus shipping, it was brand new in the wrapper, got Tifosi sunglasses for 30 dollars plus shipping, retails for 60. I'm a huge ebay fan as long as I make sure I buy from reputable buyers.

i just got a brand new 2011 Ogio Grom bag for $110 shipped.  I emailed their customer service and let them know that I had a 2010 Grom bag.  The zipper was kind of pulling away from the material and one of the flaps in the bottom inside the bag came loose.  I just asked them if the construction on the 2011 bag was similar to the 2010 bag and if they have had any similar complaints.  They offered me a trade in if i had my original proof of purchase.  I let them know that i threw away the original receipt because it was a year ago and they offered to sell me a brand new one for 50% off ($110).  No shipping charge or anything.  Placed my order with them through email and the bag showed up on my doorstep 4 days later.  Best customer service I have seen in a while.

Currently in the Grom: Driver: Ping G15 13.5;  Woods: Adams XTD 5W 18.5, TM R11 7w 22; Hybrids: Cleveland Mashie M4 and M5; Irons: Mizuno JPX800 w/Nippon NSPro950 S;  Wedges: CG16 48* CG15 52* CG15DSG 56*;  Putter: Rife 2bar hybrid mallet Ball: Callaway Hex Chrome

I love my Nike SQ Tour Carry. The 14 way is the only kind of bag I will buy now. Didn't realize how much easier it made everything. I paid $80 at the beginning of last year through Nike. You can find them for around $100 retail now.

Finding a bag with a 14 way divider for under $200 is a stretch. This new Titleist bag looks like it would be a nice carry bag as well as a decent cart bag if and when you ride. I find 14 way dividers to be a pain, but you like what you like! Never buy a Taylormade bag. I work in a golf shop at a club and we are constantly sending those piles back because of ripping straps, breaking stand kicks and support bars breaking. Ping bags are the greatest you can buy in my opinion, tough, durable, and good looking. Sun Mountain bags are great, and come in a variety of color schemes, and Titleist bags are pretty much SM. The 14 way divider just makes the bag too heavy, and I think they dink your clubs up pretty good being spread apart.

IMO some of the best bags out there for the money are:

MIzuno Aerolite III - $118

**best divider ever, super light and all the pockets needed, have some special edition bags released too that are sweet

Titliest Lightweight Stand Bag - $130

**light, great stand, good straps, insulated bevy pocket

and i have had OGIO, PING, Nike, TM and Sun Mountain (altho SM are Titleists too, but w a heavier price tag)

Who contacted you from OGIO if I may ask? I hate to rain on your parade, but you got took. I bought a used 2010 Grom Urban Camo back in March from another forum. The divider came loose at the bottom just like yours. I emailed their customer service and told them everything and get an automated response with a bunch of questions I answered in my original email. I let them know what I thought about that then this person emails me personally and then emails me a return shipping label to return my bag. 2 weeks later a brand new bag shows up, GREAT! I used this bag the rest of the season and notice that the same thing happens and Email the person and tell her the situation. She emails me another return shipping label and tells me to pick any bag for replacement. I told her i want the Grom red griddle, 14 way divider and needless to say it's on it's way now via FedEx for absolutely NO CHARGE.

Not hardly. There are Sasquatch Tours on ebay now for well under his target range and also 2011 OGIO Groms for under that price albeit more than the SQ Tour.

Obviously he can find stuff on eBay, I guess I never even though of ebay really. I'm not too familiar with 14-way distributors because I really don't like the look of them, or trying to stick clubs back in and slamming them into 5 different dividers.

I stand corrected : )

Go to GPP and get the Titleist 14 way bag (149.99). The dividers are full length and the pockets are all nicely sized and placed on the bag, I am very glad I bought this bag!

    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
    • I agree with @klineka, you're clearly doing something right.  Its always going to be a bit of a guessing game if you don't have any scoring history.  On the other hand, understanding that it takes only 54 holes to establish an actual handicap, and they have about 6 weeks in which to play and post enough scores, I don't think its at all unreasonable to require them to have an official handicap before they become eligible for prizes.  I don't know how you structure the fees for the series of competitions, but if its possible they'll play with the group without being eligible for prizes, you could consider a way to let them do that without contributing to the prize pool.
    • I run tournaments and want to put in a local rule that allows relief from tree roots and rocks that are not loose impediments. We have some really terrible lies in some of our courses in my area and nobody is getting paid enough to break clubs. Let me know if you think the verbage for this rule makes sense. Local Rule Roots and Rocks You may move your ball from a tree root or buried rock one club length for free relief no closer to the hole. However you may not use this rule to get relief from a tree, bush, boulder, or other foliage hindering your swing. Your only option here is to play it as it lies or take an unplayable for a one stroke penalty.
    • Makes sense.  Like I said, I wouldn't have been upset at their original offer either, and based on the fine print it seems like they've held up their end of the deal.
