If you had to have one brand of clubs in your bag....which would it? How often do individuals actually do this?

I am a beginner who is really impressed with the Taylor Made line of clubs from top to bottom but wanted to hear input from more experienced players.

Easy one, I would choose Mizuno,  Their stuff isn't the best in all categories. But their irons are really good and for the other clubs they make items I can live with. Still though you get deals on some things and they find their way into your bag.  Other things get there because of their performance.  Just don't buy because of looks.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I currently have a TM driver, a ping wood, callaway irons, nike wedges and a cleaveland putter lol...

If I had to make it down to one, I would probably go w/ Titleist just for overall quality, though I don't find them the best in any one category.

Titleist - I havent tried their fairways or hybrids but was very happy with their drivers, irons, wedges and putter.

I would choose ping for the following reasons,

There selection of irons range for every player now with there new player irons

There drivers and fairway woods are not flashy but just plain old good

There putters pretty good

The only thing they lack is a true good set of wedge

They still have the best fitting system out there..

Titleist for me... I just actually got a set of their irons (695 cb) and a hybrid (585h) and have a Titleist putter already... their wedges are great (Vokeys) and I really like their driver and fw offerings.

Mizuno would be a close second... their irons are arguably the best out there and as an owner of their driver already I can say that their woods are very good... I've also heard good things about their wedges... the only thing I'm unsure on is their putters but I'm sure they have a good one out there...

I put together a complete Hogan set.

CS3 Driver

C455 3 wood, 5 wood

BH5 3-P

Riviera Wedges 54, 58

"The Hawk" putter

I'm a beginner, so the BH5 irons help me a bit --- though I've been told I should have just got used Apex irons.

I actually really like the driver -- it feels better than a lot of the new stuff I've tried in stores.  (And the local pro hit it 300yds at the range, so I know it *can* do that... I only get 210-230 on my drives, but I have a relatively slow swing speed, so...)

I kind of like having all my clubs from the same manufacturer.  Not sure what I'll do when I get the chance to upgrade equipment though...

I would suggest not focusing on brand, but instead, going to the local golf show and trying all the brands.  Hit everything, and pick what you like.    When I went to get my clubs, I thought I would stick with the same brand for everything.  I had this dream of owning "brand x" irons, woods, putter, bag and clothes lol.   But I soon learned that different brands offer different things, and as a result, I have a ton of different brands in my bags: Ping Driver, Callaway Irons, Adams and Ping Hybrids, and a Nike Putter!   I love all of them!

I used to think about this question a lot. never was able to come to a conclusion. I have a taylormade r9 supertri. burner 3 wood. callaway ft 4 wood. cleveland halo hybrid. taylormade r9 tp irons. vokey wedges. and scotty putter.

I guess if I had to go with one, it would be titleist. clubs would be 910 driver, fairway, and hybrid. ap2 710 irons. vokey's. scotty putter.

golf is a lot like life. the more you enjoy it, the better off you are. a3_biggrin.gif

I could do it with Ping, Titleist, TM, Mizuno, and probably Adams. The thing is, I wouldn't do it with any of them!

Right now I have Titleist woods & hybrid along with Ping irons, Titleist wedges and a Nike putter in the main bag. TM woods and hybrid, Ping irons & wedges, and a SC putter in the back up bag. It would be hard to find what works best for me in every catagory out of one manufacturer.

I've just gotten a set of Tom Wishon 770CFE Irons with #3-5 785 hybrids also from Tom Wishon.  I'm very impressed with these clubs so far.  Wishon is a zealot for custom fitting clubs along with being a very innovative club designer.

Seems like this thread has derailed a bit from what the OP was asking... Obviously most players won't fill a bag with a single brand of clubs, but it's interesting to consider which brand covers my bases best, from tee to green.

With the new 910 stuff, It would be tough to not go with Titleist.  I've always liked their irons and wedges, and the new drivers/fairways are an incredible balance of classic looks and high performance.  Adams and Taylormade would be a close second for me.

In the Bag: TaylorMade R11 TP - TaylorMade R7 TP TS - Cleveland Halo - TM TP 2009 3-PW - Vokey SM 52 - Vokey SM 60 - Rife Barbados CS - ProV1x

I always have a soft spot for Wilson, but if I had to go with 2011 production I would probably pick Titleist, although Callaway and Mizuno would be close behind. Thank goodness we don't have to make this choice, though.  I like to pick and choose.

To the OP, Taylor is fine if you like them; I could do that too, but might not be my first choice.  Nothing to do with quality or service, just preference.

If I were to pick single brand, it would be Titleist.

Oddly enough, every single club (but an ugly Ping i10 iron) in my bag is Titleist.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
