This season i was using a Nike dymo str8-fit. I liked it, but i did not like the sound or how heavy it was. I want a new driver, and money is not a problem, i will spend anything just to have a driver that i am confident with, and is nice to look at. I also want a driver that will give me a lower ball flight. What driver should i get?

Driver- Titleist 910 D2 RIP 60 S- shaft

3 wood- Taylormade RBZ S shaft

Hybrid- Taylormade superfast 2.0 S shaft

Irons- Titleist AP2 712 DG- S300

Wedges- titleist vokey sm4

Putter- SC Fast Back

You're going to want a tour driver if you want that lower ball flight. The only problem is, the "tour" driver will not necessarily give you that confidence. So, try looking at the 910 D3, R9 Supertri TP (probably your best bet), and maybe the i15. Look into drivers along those lines and you should be good.

I have to say that jcollins is on the money with the Titleist and TaylorMade suggestions. They're two manufacturers that include "pleasant sound" in their R&D.;

Personally I used a PING G10 all last year and even though it didn't sound bad and was pretty long I also wanted a lower ball flight. I picked up an 8 degree Callaway X-tour off ebay. Great ball flight and great sound, but the AD Tour shaft hardly inspires confidence. Later in the spring I picked up a Mizuno MP-600 (slightly used from Play It Again Sports) with Fukijura X shaft and wow, just wow.  Sound is okay, but the ball flight and control are just what I wanted.

Good luck!!

Sean brought up a good point. If you decide not to get a tour driver model, then you can always get a stiffer shaft or even get a heavier stiff shaft. (70-85 grams). Since you want a new driver, it will be tough finding a lower degree, though. IMO a lower degree, like 8˚ for example wouldn't really solve it as much anyway. Look into the Taylormade R9 Supertri TP, Taylormade Burner Superfast TP and Taylormade R11 TP for they will give a lower, more piercing ball flight without sacrificing the feel of just a regular driver. You could look into the MP-600 just as Sean said, too. Basically if those methods of going about it don't work it might just be your swing. Anyway, keep us posted.

Taylormade drivers are know for higher launch. Jcollins "Tour" statement couldn't be further from the truth. Start with lower loft then shaft and lower spin head. Most "Tour" players want high launch low spin.

Well that is a creative thought, but you are incorrect my friend. A "tour" model is meant for a piercing ball flight, aka a lower ball flight. It has a deeper face also guided towards that lower ball flight. Yes, that may be what tour players are after, but DFerlmann wants something else so your comment does not answer his question what so ever at all. Good try, though.

Yes, low spin is ideal and tour players do want that higher launch. What I'm saying is, is that DFerlmann does not want a high launch. He's after a lower ball flight and a certain type of driver will do just that. How would I know? I've seen him hit and lowering loft did not help.

Well considering Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone on the internet, it is not a reliable source. It's funny how I copy and paste it apparently, yet it would take some hefty research to find topics as specific as these. Anything I post is from me and not anyone else. Now, instead of coming at me why don't we help DFerlmann solve his driver dilema.

I'm sorry for coming off as rude, just proving a point is all.

But you didn't. LBlack knows what he's talking about.

The simple point is that Tour heads don't necessarily (or even often) launch the ball lower. They tend to launch the ball higher but with less spin. Deeper faces reduce spin.

But that's not really the topic here, so let's get back to that and put a cap on this Tour driver stuff. Thanks.

I'd recommend checking out Callaway.  I had a Dymo2 Str8 Fit also and hated the feel and sound.  I really like the FT-9.  My brother just got a Razr Hawk and my golf partner has a Diablo Octane and they are all great drivers.  Callaway has a lot of options for high cappers to great tour models.

I love my R11, however it does have a higher launch. I would strongly recommend the Titleist 910 D3...best looking plus amazing performance!

... sorry, Titleist 910 D2, NOT D3.   D3 is more difficult to hit/control

I was looking for essentially the same thing and settled on the Titleist 910D2 with the Aldila RIP shaft... it's been working pretty well for me...

Its a practical question, but this is a stupid question on an online forum, at least as broadly as you asked the question. People here are only going to tell you what they like. My opinion is you should go to the local golf store and just hit EVERYTHING until you find something you like! I had that Nike driver for a month or so, and I didn't like it either. Honestly, its junk compared to what is out now. That being said, Ping's are great! The R9 is solid. The Adams are great (although not for everyone). And the Titleist's are good (though ive never owned one myself). Those are the 3 or 4 I would recommend personally…

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.
