The Burner Superfast 2.0 just wasn't for me I think being as short as I am (5'7) the longer club just would make me try to have to reach to much and come around and slice the ball......

Went into golf galaxy yesterday and being lefty they didn't have a good selection,  I'm not into the NEWER is the best thing I'm looking to get the best driver possible for my game.  Swing Speed is 100-107 on the monitor yesterday  and spin was in the 2700-2900

Swung the

G20

G15 (Snapped it and drive went 215 on the monitor lol)

R11

and that was it because of the very little selection I have been looking at them plus the

Nike Mach speed black

Calloway Diablo octane

etc etc

And at this Rate I just want a decent driver and like I said I'll get an R7 if I get enough positive outlook from people a few of my buddies say they love their older clubs over the new stuff the G20 felt pretty good but I'm not sure how much different it was than the G15 because of the 2 drives then SNAP

So what are you guys swinging and getting good results with out there

I've been gaming the Titleist 909 D2 for the last 6 months and its solid. Classic shape, feels great and sounds lovely.

It might just be me but the acoustics of a driver i always consider.. For example, love the R11's performance but hate the sound.

 909 D2 10.5º S-Flex   RBZ 3W 15º S-Flex

 909h 19º S-Flex

 G15 (4-6) i15 (7-PW) Project X Rifle 5.5  52º, 56º & 58º

You know you can have the shaft cut down to the length you want it right? If you're 5'7 then that would probably mean you need roughly 1/4 of an inch shorter shaft. The 2.0 is an full 1 1/2 inches longer than standard which is 45". The R11, G20, G15 and Machspeed are all 3/4 of an inch longer than standard. The Octane is 1 inch longer. If length was an issue with the 2.0 then it's going to be an issue with any club you purchase. You'll need to have them cut down probably at least .25" maybe even .50" in order to get the same feel and effect that the club would have for anyone else. I'll tell you right now though to not waste your money on the Machspeed. I've never heard anyone have anything good to say about it.

I use a Mizuno JPX 800 and generally it's great. The only negative for me (not the club) is incorrect flex.

I don't own any currently, but whenever I hear a well struck TaylorMade driver, it's a very pleasant sound. Not a fan of white drivers, but after playing in the mountains with a guy striping an R11 (sound echoes and seems amplified) I was slightly less biased against it.

I can't say what you'd consider "new", but I suspect anything newer than ~ 2007 with a proper shaft would fit the bill. I rotate a few drivers, each with different shafts and properties. Still haven't decided yet which one is "the one" which tells me there are a lot of suitable options and it all comes down to what brand you prefer and that might come down to which signature sound (TM, Callaway, Titleist, PING, Cobra, etc all have one) makes you smile. And of course which OEM has staff players you don't cringe at the sight of - we all have that bias - sad but 100% true.

All good info guys and on the length thing I have the SUMO2 I'm using now till I find a new driver but it seems to be perfect length wise is that standard size? and talk about the sound it makes this thing is terrible lol

But yeah on the "New" thing I'd say anything where the companies just start changing colors and minor things that the average player wouldn't be able to take advantage of like the R9 and R11 I see more people who love their R9's than enjoy playing the R11's

If you SS is that high, I'd probably look at an Adams 9064LS. They've been on sale and have a good rep as a driver for the higher speed player.

Yes, Adams makes good drivers.

My grandfather shoots adams clubs and me being Lefty and him righty I never got to use it and even if I did the SR flex wouldn't work anyways but I've heard good things about Adams clubs he loves his.  Wasn't sure if they were geared more towards the older crowd when it comes to making clubs

You're out of date ... way out of date.

I know lots of high speed guys on these boards that luv them some Adams drivers, fairways and hybrids.

They make a lefty in 9.5 and I would not go lower than that -- as most pros don't go lower than that loft...

The last time I saw the 9064LS on sale -- it was $149.

I have always swung a 9.5 and what I would plan to go with and with the money saved if I like the driver for that price I'll look into the Fairway woods.  I'll deff be looking around at this for sure!! and read a ton of reviews and seems to be a thumbs up everyone I read

I just had my driver cut down to 44" from 45.75". Also added some lead tape to the back of the clubhead to compensate. Feels good. Now I can actually hit the ball inside my left heel.

If you want to keep a liteweight shaft and a decent swing weight and a shortened length, I suggest you find a good club maker who can add hot melt inside the head.

Haven't hit many drivers from the last couple years, so I won't weigh in on those.  But if you're still considering getting an old R7, I'll give a vote of confidence there.  I had one for a couple years that I hit really well.  Then I snapped the shaft.  I figured I could get a solid newer used club for not much more than reshafting with a good shaft, so I got a different driver.  Got a Cleveland Launcher which was okay but I never hit as well.  Played a Kind Cobra for a while after that.  Snapped that shaft too and hit some buddies' clubs for a while.  Never hit any of those as well as the R7 quad, but didn't have the R7 head anymore (gave it to a buddy years ago who got it reshafted).  Decided to just find one of those in good shape.  Found one looking almost new with a good Aldila NV 65S shaft on it, and am hitting my driver better than I have since my old R7 broke.

SUMO2's sound god awful off the tee.  I won a vacation at a golf expo to a resort in Virginia and I took another couple with my fiance and I.  The other couples husband and I are really good friends but never played together though.  I let him go first and while I was getting my things out of my bag he teed off and I literally hit the deck when he made contact it was that horrible.  The course was in the mountains too so the echo was almost deafening lol

I actually play an R9 driver myself, and absolutely love it. I don't see myself buying another driver for a while. I don't play with the face settings at all, the only thing I do is put the heavy weight in the heel. I've hit a lot of the other drivers out there (Titleist 910 D3, Callaway RAZR Fit, R11, etc.) and in my opinion have yet to find one better than my R9. I was actually in the market for a new 3 wood, and tried every one that I could, and ended up buying an R9 online. If you do decide to get an older Taylor Made driver, check out www.taylormadegolfpreowned.com. I've had very good luck with it in the past.
