He still doesn't get why his Tiger Woods comment is so derogatory.   He blames it all on the media and people being overly politically correct.   Goddamn he's an a**hole.

From an article:

The 21 year old Woods won the tournament, shooting a record 18 under par, becoming the first African American to win a major professional golf tournament. Woods father is AfricanAmerican and his mother is AsianAmerican.

With drink in hand, Zoeller made the remarks April 13 after finishing his final Masters round, a poor 78 that placed him in a tie for 34th in the final standings.

Zoellers comments at the Masters were "That little boy is driving well and hes putting well. Hes doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not serve fried chicken next year."

Google it.  It's an off-the-cuff, extremely stereotypical (i.e. racist) comment he made in passing to a reporter (on video) at the Masters the year after Tiger's first victory there.  Would that be 1998, then?

Sorry, based on the post above I was off, I guess it was during the year he was about to win for the first time ... make that 97 then?

And that isn't the whole quote either.

He gets it. He just doesn't see why people couldn't let it go after awhile. I mean even today, after how many years, people still have to bring it up. The media DOES deserve blame, and people ARE too PC these days. Tiger even said theyre fine now, the matter was over and done with SO long ago. IMO the only a**holes are the ones who can't seem to let it go, to this day. Good grief.

Who cares??!!

It was 15 years ago and Fuzzy is known as a wiseguy.....if Lee Trevino would've won he would've said "make sure he doesn't serve [INSERT CHEAP MEXICAN FOOD HERE]".....If a Jewish golfer would've won, he would've said something similar. It was obviously in poor taste and he did apologize for his comments....but I don't think his intent was to be racist - he was just trying to get a laugh like he always /has/continues to do.....

There is no doubt it was an insensitive and ignorant remark but it does make you wonder about the state of the world today. If an Englishmen wins and he says something about tea and crumpets or fish and chips then does anyone get upset? What about a Scotsman victory and a comment about haggis? Maybe its different because those are national cuisines but think about a guy from Louisiana winning and a comment about gumbo?

Again, not defending him but I just wonder how we got here and if we'll ever move on.

because he hasn't owned up to it still, and is missing the point of why it was so offensive.   whether people are too PC or not doesn't change the affect of what he said.  and tiger woods doesn't get to decide what's offensive or not, he probably accepted the apology just so he wouldn't have to hear about it anymore - and that strategy worked.   tiger woods likely thought to himself, "fine, let's get past this, i'll accept your apology since you don't matter a lick to me anyway".

Again....who cares? It's not like Fuzzy is the face of the PGA / Champions Tour....if you think he's a bigot, then call him a bigot and be done with it.

I had forgotten all about this clown to be completely honest with you. It was offensive and stupid then and it still is but at some point you gotta let it go and move on. I know we're only talking about this because he was interviewed about it. If I were him I would've passed on that question and said he's moved on from that. He may or may not be a bigot but I feel sorry for the guy because he's forever known as the clown that made the racially insensitive remark about serving "soul food" at the Masters. Im not even gonna mention the use of the word "boy"

Thats his legacy.

He made an ignorant comment but I think he's paid for it 100 times over at this point. For him to be associated with that the rest of his life, I just don't think it's right.

I love that he says what he says, snaps and walks away as if maybe the alarm had just gone off in his brain that he f'd up but then turns around and lays down the collared greens statement and throws out an odd "they" reference. I think he already has a drink in his hand. Looking back now its just funny.

FWIW, I don't really think Tiger saying that it's all good between him and an individual means ANYthing.  He's far too image conscious to publicly burn bridges, even if he can't stand certain people.
