Hazards on course.

Last summer my friends and I played at Bowral GC which is in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales and before we tee'd off we were told under no circumstance to go looking for lost balls in the rough-about calf high- why we asked? it's snake season ...Red belly black snakes,King Brown snakes and the odd Death Adder are out and about.Needless to say amazingly we mostly kept to the fairways and only lost 3 balls between the four of us.It's funny how a fear of Death tightens up the swing and the sphincter.Another course to be wary of is Port Kembla GC which has a murder of crows......love that description!........that delight in stealing balls off the fairways and greens,very disheartening to hit a screamer right down the middle only to see it take flight in the beak of these aerial hooligans never to be seen again.

Saw a nine to eleven foot alligator sunning itself along the seventh hole of Countryway Golf Club in Tampa a few years back.  Biggest, meanest hazard I've ever seen.

Oh oh oh, I HATE SNAKES!!!!

A couple of months ago I was playing at this course, looking for my ball just off the back of a green. And there were snake holes everywhere, and all sudden I heard a rattler, I jumped and ran so fast, the others in my group freaked out too.

Apparently at a course in Queensland they have Bull sharks in one of their water hazards,a nearby river overflowed in the rainy season and stranded them in the hazard,don't know what they eat to survive probably errant golfers.

Along the left side of the 5th fairway at the local country club, there are two fences that keep coyotes and foxes in.... Needless to say, your ball is gone for good if it goes in there! It's somewhat unsettling to hear them during your round.

Just 3 weeks ago I had a rattler episode.  I was driving on the cart path closely behind my brother's cart when he swerved all of a sudden to leave a 30+ inch rattler 6 feet in front of me, of course I go to slam on the brakes and instantly realize I would stop with it directly beneath the cart.  With pretty much no time to think, I just kept the foot on the gas, and feet up!  I went straight over the top of it, and somehow didn't clip him with a tire. Terrifyingly Hilarious.  I laugh just thinking about it.

And tough, I should know that's my home course, 7024 yards 74.5 rate 142 slope, many frustrating afternoons but I think it makes me better in the long run, oh did I forget to mention the wind?

A course we played last month had snake warning signs in some of the wooded OB areas.

Once, at a nearby course that is situated next to a lake,  I used a 3 iron on a golf course inhabiting water moccasin.

It worked very well.

Most of the courses I play allow you to carry a pistol with rat shot in case you see a snake on the course.

There is one funny local law about it being illegal to have a gun at a sporting event.. But that re-starts the debate about Golf being a sport.

Where? I'd like to avoid this course, I'm golfing all over the place in CO this year.

Alligators are fairly common around here.  I don't often see them on shore but on occasion I'll see one sunning itself next to a lake or pond.  As long as they aren't using my tee box I'll keep my distance but play on.
