Ping club alterations

Hi,

 

I am wondering if I can get some answers to a couple questions I have.
 

I recently bought some older Ping irons from a buddy of mine to replace my Cleveland irons.

 

They have a color code of Green.

 

If I use them and find out I would rather have a different color code, can I send them into Ping to get them altered?

 

How much does it cost?

Ping will have you go to an authorized retailer to have them send the clubs in to be adjusted. The nice part of this is that they will actually change the color dot on the club and update their database to have the new color code attached to the serial number in their system. The retailer will charge you, probably a few dollars more than Ping charges them (5-7 dollars per club) and shipping.

I too bought used Pings. The guy I got them from said they could only go a couple of degrees either way. I have not yet been fitted but we were both the same size. 6'1. They're the only cubs I've hit so I don't know any different. You can look on Ping"s color code chart and check your height and distance front your wrist to the floor to get a rough estimate.

That link has a chart that shows how much they can bend the club.  They say they can do 5 color codes for most clubs, which is about 4*

 

I don't know what the cost would be.

You definitely should get a fitting for Ping irons and see if you require a different color code.

Probably unless you work with them to get them bent by Ping. They'll make their money that way.

From Ping's website, you can enter data to get a guestimation on your Ping color code.

I got fitted two different times, first guy did not spend much time with me and so I felt another look would be in order. I still didn't get the clubs from those guys either due to a poor business behavior. I ended up just calling some pro that was a ping guy to have them sent out to me. Go to a fitter and have them set you up. You don't have to purchase anything.

FWIW- I just got fitted for Ping irons and it was a great experience. Guy spent a couple hours with me and let me hit several different clubs/shafts. He knew I was buying.

I would hope you would get the same service from someone just trying to adjust existing clubs, but the oldster in me says pbly not (unless it's someone you know personally).
