Would new clubs help?

I'm returning to golfing after 20+ years. I've got a couple rounds under my belt now and have been thinking about getting a set of Adams A12os hybrid irons. This would be an upgrade from the clubs I'm using: purchased at WM back in the early 90's. I'm currently scoring in the high 90s (97-100). I've tried a friend's Cobra driver, as opposed to my old 1 wood, and it was a HUGE difference, so I have gotten a Taylormade R7 to replace the 1.

Just wondering if this set would be a good replace (open to other suggestions as well).

TIA

Courses played so far include (Houston area): Herman Park, Bear Creek, and Wildcat.

Yes, any of today's game improvement irons are going to help, but i would suggest  going to get fitted or go to one of the larger retailers (Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy) and use their simulators and see what you like. take one of your old mid irons and compare what you hit to that.  you will find you like some and don't like others, but try and go in with out a brand or particular set in mind and you will come out with the best set for your game.

Yes. New clubs will likely help your game. Plus, fitting is better than it was when you got your last set. And, I'm guessing you are a different person than you were 20 years ago. There are lots of threads here about fitting.

When you say "way back in the 90's" you make me feel old.

It's a well documented, medical fact that new clubs will resolve any swing fault almost instantly.

Not true, personally I have found that here in Wisconsin with the heavier air and with the smell of the cows that actually switching to hickory shafted older blade style clubs has some advantages.

All kidding aside, if you've got old, old clubs, the new can't hurt.

Before you go out there and buy something, you might hang around the 5SK Video thread, Golf Evolution Video Threads or YouTube, to see if you pick up on some things. You might need a different set of irons...

Thanks guys.

I picked up a 3h Friday (forced day off from work) and went to the range. That thing is amazing! So much better than my 3 iron. Guess the next shopping stop will be the rest of the irons (and \ or some more hybrids).
