I just picked up a full set of clubs at a garage sale to get started with. They cost me 20 bucks, are in very good shape, and look "classic" (not at all like the colorful exotic things I see on the internet.) To get started with, I'm sure they're more than adequate. I was just curious if anyone knows anything about them...how old they are, quality, etc.

The woods and irons are all made by TNT. The woods are labeled "Touch" and the irons are "Touch II." The woods all have laminated wood club faces (something I have read isn't made these days) and they all have True Temper TT Lite Flex-R shafts. The club faces have a Canadian Maple Leaf on them, but the shafts have a "Made in USA" sticker on them, so I'm guessing they've been re-shafted.

Anyone know anything about them? I can't find anything about them on the internet.

Wonder if those clubs are any good at all, they look decent, but looks are often deceiving.

I found a forum of Canadian golfers who suggest TNT makes clubs that are known for quality and durability. At any rate, I think they're nice enough, and I'm not sure I could tell the difference in a good club and a bad club, so I'm sure its close enough.

When did laminated wood club heads leave the market? I'd like to try to date these somewhat.

TNT are decent, nothing exceptional but decent, usually with fairly classic lines. I have a nice TNT muscle-back 52-08 wedge that performs well. Got it at a flea market for 8$, slapped on a new grip and Bob's your uncle. Similar look and feel to my 56-12 Nike SV Tour at 1/20 of the price. :-D

Are you having a garage sale of your own soon?  :-P

Got your avatar for you, BTW :-)

Considering you paid 20 bucks, it's hard to say you got a "bad deal." I myself bought some thrift shop clubs for 20 bucks at one point, and wound up selling them on craigslist for 25! Profit baby!

So, even if they suck, don't worry about it. But the laminated wood doesn't bode well, just to be perfectly honest.
