I've been Playing Golf for: 10 YEARS

My current handicap index or average score is: 78-80

My typical ball flight is: I can usually hit a fade or a draw depending on the condition required

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: I don't get to play that often, I'm trying to mold my swing into a better overall swing... I'm not looking to eliminate any particular mishit.

Basically I'm in school and that is just ending so I'm finally going to get to play again and I have been working to get my game back on track. With the wonderful improvement in cell phone cameras I've finally been able to view my swing in slow motion... This has done wonders for my game. I am able to finally see exactly what I am doing wrong and make some changes.

The improvement has been so great in fact that playing for the first time this year on vacation in Hilton Head I shot my first Even par round ever at Hilton Head National, last week. Before this year I was generally a 80-85 guy. Nonetheless I'm still pretty inconsistent, so I'm trying to figure out some flaws in my swing that I can work on.

Really hoping to hear your opinions! Thanks for the help guys! I'm open to any criticism, and willing to make any adjustments. I've completely developed this swing on my own just by watching videos in slow motion and trying to emulate the pros using some free swing analysis software I found... so I'm 100% sure I've developed some bad habits in here.

Oh yeah, I'm a notorious "flipper." I read a post on here this week and worked on all the things you guys mentioned.

I don't really see where you are "flipping" badly.  You are unhinging just a bit early.

What I would do is flare your feet out a bit so your toes are father apart than your heels, to allow your hips a better turn into the top.  Your shoulder turn is steeper than your hip slant.  You also move just a bit to much into the trailing leg in the back swing I would say to the point where your head moves back a bit.  Flaring the feet out and getting the right hip steeper will help with getting some of the weight off the trailing leg at the top. All and all a pretty dang nice swing.

Thank you! As to the flipping, I spent the past two days doing drills suggested on the forums here to get rid of that!

Do you have any suggestions as to drills or "feelings" I should have to get the right hip steeper? I'm not familiar with exactly what you're referring to, but I've always felt like my hips and shoulders were out of sync.

I've also noticed my head moves quite a bit and I've always had issue with fixing that.

Edit: Ahhh I see, so you're saying the tilt of my hips is more shallow than the tilt of my shoulders?

In my analysis software, at the top of the backswing I noticed my shoulders were much steeper than the pros... I never could figure out a solid way to fix this! I'll definitely work on what you said!

Check the above thread out first.

Check out this for drills you can do on steady head stuff.  You may for example need to "feel" like you are tilting a bit towards the target with the right side stretching out from leg to shoulder in the back swing when in reality you are just making a centered turn.

The feeling of tilting and stretching out the right side is exactly what I've seen Adam Scott doing in his swings, it looks almost as though his head and right side are doing exactly what you suggested, even though as you said he is just making a turn around his axis... it makes a ton of sense now! Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

I'll work on that this week and post my results!

The biggest thing I see from the face on view is how far your hands keep traveling after your shoulder turn stops. This is going to making syncing up your body and arms on the downswing very difficult. Try staying more connected on the backswing to make your impact more consistent.

I would say you sway slightly to the the back leg in the backswing, looks like about 3-4 inches of sway. you move that much forward as well in the downswing (back towards the target). This is due to the fact you keep hips restrictive in the backswing when you start the backswing. You get your shoulders rotate to far early, and then when you rotate your hips, you over extend and pull your self away from the target.

You could get the hands a bit more forward at impact, but its pretty solid from the video.

Thanks for the advice guys! Those are all definitely issues I've also picked up on.

I guess the biggest thing is figuring out the best way to approach each problem area.

That's a really nice swing! I'm no pro but I doesn't look too flippy to me, I'd be surprised if it was your priority piece to work on. You do come off the ball but you get back nicely and you look awesome at impact.
