Clubs For a Beginning Female Golfer??

My wife and I have friends that belong to a Country Club "socially."  As in, they don't play golf.  The husband is in real estate, they do it to make connections.  They invited us to a social golf/dinner thing the other night where we all played 6 holes and then went to a luau.  The wife apparently enjoyed herself enough that she now wants to give the game a shot.  She's told me she's going to take lessons and everything.

She is a TOTAL beginner.  As in, I don't think she ever once swung a golf club prior to Friday night.  Since I'm the only real golfer in the group, she's asking me for advice on clubs and I don't want to steer her wrong.  I don't want to talk her into clubs that are cheap, old and outdated thus causing her to have trouble hitting the ball, and then perhaps choose to not like the game.  But at the same time, I don't want to talk her into nicer, newer clubs that might cost a little more, only to find out she just isn't interested.

So far, this is what I recommended for her.  Anybody have other or different ideas??

Yeah, those both look really nice.  The price tag is what keeps me from recommending those in case she ends up not sticking with the game.

If you don't want to spend a lot but want a nice set why not get used?

The ladies Adams V4 can be bought on eBay for less than that. After watching my mom struggle for two years I practically insisted she go to the store and try new clubs. She had been using a cobbled together set of men's clubs, hand me downs from my step-dad and whatever she thought she could hit. At 67 she was really struggling, trouble getting the ball up, not much distance. Long story longer I bought the Bombtech Grenade for myself. Of course everyone wanted to try it. She hit it well and that was enough to get her to try something different. I suggested the V4 simply because GolfEtail was blowing it out for $219 or something. It's a hybrid iron, tried her's practically hits itself it's so easy.

Her husband texted me and asked me to buy a set off craigslist for her.  The seller is near me, and since I know more about clubs than either of them, he wants me to try and buy them and negotiate the price.  I said sure.  Here's the set:

Based on only the pictures, what do you guys think these are actually worth?

TA is the Sports Authority house brand now. You could probably look on their site and see whatever the new version is selling for, which probably won't be much. They will be fine for a beginner.

I wouldn't balk at the Adams set. Hubby works real estate, so the couple has $$$ to spare.

You might suggest she talk to the teaching pro for advice on finding clubs for her.

What was she using during the 6 holes you played together? Those clubs seemd good enough to get her interested.

There were 3 couples, and the third wife borrowed a set of clubs from her sister.  They both shared that set.

I have received no response from the seller of that old TA set.  I'm going to urge her husband to buy that new TA set from Sports Authority for $160.  That seems pretty reasonable to me.
