I strained one of my quads over the weekend, and thought I'd be good to go for some golf after work this evening. Played alright (putted better than I have in a while!), but it was a really dumb thing to do. I don't think it was a really bad strain, but on one of my tee shots I felt something really pull and realized how poor of a decision it was to play in the first place.

I was afraid of hurting it more to begin with, so I was already taking it easy for the most part, but on one tee shot I tried to swing a bit harder and it didn't end well. Hopefully I didn't make it much worse; I can still walk on it alright, but I'll probably lay off it for the next week or so and see where I'm at then. That will feel like an eternity given how much I've been playing lately :-(

I did the same thing this afternoon. Have been battling a pulled rhomboid in my back and it's so hard to stay away from golf and the gym. I get restless because it blows my whole daily routine up. I either work out or practice/play golf every day pretty much after work and whenever I want on the weekends.

Hey I tried playing through bad shoulders for two months. Bad idea. Don't play through injuries. It isn't worth it especially when we're not getting paid millions a year to play.

I strained my mcl last year and just did a lot of putting work. The thought of even rotating my knee not only hurt but had a mental effect on my game for a few months

It's really a great way to start making bad swing changes to compensate for the injury and then once you recovered you now have a new swing flaw to try and fix, no matter how bad you want to get out it's just not worth it.

Yeah I definitely did some of that - I was trying to use my legs as little as possible, so my swing was a lot armsier and I feel like I was losing some power because of it. Maybe I should just work on putting in the meantime!

About 2 years ago I was hit by a car on my motorcycle and ended up breaking my collar bone, within 3 days i was hitting shots in my back yard one handed, then within 2 weeks I was on an executive course. I just had to change the whole style of how i swung to use mostly my lower body. It ended up revolutionizing my swing I went from slicing to hooking. It may not always be advisable to play while injured but you never know an injury might get you to change your swing style for the better, at least it did for me.

At my age im adjusting every round anyway. Knee ,shoulder and tennis elbow recently. None are extreme injuries but whats weird is their never all hurting at once.Hopefully never will.Advil, aspercreme, icy hot ,couple of beers and a lil whiskey occasionally make it a lil better .
