Recycled balls, best place to buy

First off I am "thrifty", always looking to save a buck. I've never been a buyer of recycled or used balls, because of lack of quality (real or perceived), but seeing as how expensive new balls are getting, I'm rethinking that position. What are your experiences with recycled balls, if you get the highest graded ones? Performance close to new? If so, where's the best place to get them still in good shape? I know Wal-Mart has them but they're all different brands, I'm looking for Bridgestones specifically. Thoughts?

Lostgolfballs is what I use as well. Their buckets can be a real bitch to open, though, if you choose to go that route.

I also use lostgolfballs and opt for the AAAAA (top quality). Are they just like new? No, but they are in good shape and I have seen no noticeable difference in performance.

I got a couple dozen "Grade A" Bridgestone B330-RXS balls from knetgolf.com for $14 a dozen (I also got some "mint" Srixon Q-Stars at the same time).

Cosmetically the B330-RXS balls look good. None of them have scratches, 2 or 3 have corporate logos, and maybe half have small spots of discoloring. Of the 24 there were 6 that don't have the "dimple in a dimple" pattern so I think that means they are pre-2014 balls - which is fine because I can't see any performance difference.

All of the mint Q-Stars looked like new balls.

Nothing wrong with being thrifty!

I use Mailorder golf here in the uk. Last thing i got was a dozen Nike one Vapor Speed and a dozen Callaway HX Hot Bite. Quality was excellent and being a 23 hansicapper i could tell the difference between used and new. Find a good supplier and stick with them, also stay clear of refurbished.

Another vote for lostgolfballs.  I get all my balls there - the AAAAA are basically new, if you don't mind some corporate logos (I always sort those out and use them for practice).

If you attend a spring golf expo, chances are a couple of ball-recycling companies will set up shop there. You can go through the balls yourself and pick your mix.

Sometimes, the recyclers will have a bin of cosmetic rejects (smeared paint, incomplete logo). These balls are in good shape, never been hit.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
