Everyone is talking about Tiger achieving the Grand Slam of Majors this year. Well it's 2 out of 2 so far for Tiger and he looks totally unbeatable. All these Tour Pro's commenting recently about Tiger being beatable, this is only so their only confidence isn't lost.

Apart from the Grand Slam of Majors which is completly in the grasp of Tiger. What would happen to the game if all the events Tiger entered in 2008, Tiger actually won!

What effect would it have on the other Tour players?

What effect would it have on Sponsorship?

What would it do to Tiger? Would it be good or would it be bad?

What effect would it have on GOLF?

it would be great for everyone involved with golf. I'm not sure people appreciate being able to witness the Michael Jordan of golf play in his prime. There will never be another like him.

Very good point!

I think the other tour pros will be thinking "How do we beat this guy" but then they would get on with it as it is there job!

The media would go crazy about it, but i think that Tiger would be the same Tiger that we know and he will be very modest!

Cant wait to see when it happens!!

The TV Stations would lose alot of viewers I think. People wil get tired of Tiger winning all the time. Also, betting on golf (if people actually do that) Would be totally screwed up.

Just me...but I think he has about a 20% chance winning all 4 majors. There will always be an Angel Cabrarra (maybe the guy won't mowing down some "heaters" walking the 18th) .

If Tiger is off ...Phil, Furyk, and a few others are more than capable of beating him if they are "on".

tiger would retire leaving him tied with jack with 20 major championships

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

Very intersting topic.

As for the tour, it might get a little stale by the time the PGA Championship comes around. And the FedEx Cup, well if it wasn't irrelevant already, just wait.

For Tiger, while it would be yet another uncanny achievment, I think it would be bad for him. Not personally, but from the media and fans views. Everyone kept saying how last year was an "off" year for Tiger. Imagine if he came back in 09, after a perfect 08 season and didn't win EVERY tournament. The media loves trainwrecks, and they'll make one out of a parking lot fender bender.

Just my take on it.

Golf would become boring for everyone who isn't a diehard Tiger fan (of which there aren't a whole load). Someone else mentioned cricket - I'd like to say the New York Yankees or the Patriots in a similar vein. It just gets old watching the same guy win every time.

I think any person that preforms these feats can only make the game better, causing others to become better as well.

They would start making new rules. For example: You are allowed to tackle Tiger at his address. You would be allowed to scream during is downswing (3 a round per pairing). Something along those lines.

very funny!
but im not sure they would be allowed.

It would depend how tiger won the majors! If he hit hardly any fairways and won with easy they may then make the rough deeper and OB closer to the fairway!

It would be a media circus. Each event would draw more attention than the next to see if he could complete the "perfect" season. However, unlike the Partriots, if he came down to the last one he would win and prove that he is more ability than hype. ESPN would then have to show more Tiger highlights than meeningless stuff from the Yankees or Red Sox. In fact it would almost get as much coverage as a Patriots preseason game.

Mark my words, Tiger will win two majors at most this year. Why? The major events will let their rough grow tall. Not necessarily the Open, but even that event will have the tall wheat grass in which to contend. Tiger is not good with his driving accuracy and will have a disadvantage with the three events in the U.S..

On the second and third days of Dubai Desert Classic this year, he struggled from such poor drives, allowing Els to take a lead of four going into the final round. Tiger was hot on the last day, but was also fortunate with Els' goof up.

I do enjoy watching Tiger play and he is, in my opinion, the number one golfer out there today. But there are many other very talented golfers (Els, Mickelson, Choi, Scott, Harrington, Rose, Rory :), Angel, Vijay, Stricker, etc..) that could pick up slack if Tiger mis steps, just a little.

I'm not arguing about Tigers stats in driving accuracy or playing from the rough. But even so, look at the US Open last year. They had the most unplayable rough on tour last year in pittsburg, and he still finished 2nd. If his putting would have been anywhere near it was at the end of last season and so far this one, it would have been no contest. I'm not trying to be a GO TIGER guy, but almost everyone here can agree that you lose more strokes in short game and on the greens. I don't think his lack of driving accuracy will make him any less dominate.

I seriously doubt that Tiger's reign will last much longer and I am certain he will not be "the best player ever". I think you will see guys getting into the 50's in the next decade. He may be recalled more like Byron Nelson who won all of the tournaments when all of the other men were fighting WWII; in other words for winning a lot of tournaments when the other players well, just weren't very good in comparison to where players will be in another decade.

Tiger was the first man to be brought up seriously into golf only from early childhood; its been done in other sports for decades. Most of the kids in my neighborhood could hit a fastball at age 8-10 (consistently rated the highest skill in sports), or throw a pass 35 yards, or kick a football 35 yards or hit a 3 point basketball shot.

75% of todays kids can't catch or throw a baseball, pass or kick a football or dribble a bsaketball; but they probably do one thing very well. I have a nephew that if he had been born 30 years ago and gottrn the same swimming training would have won dozens of swimming medals in the Olympics. He's just college swimming scholarship material in this time.

None of my generation even touched a golf club before the age of 15 or 16, much less was a member of a country club or had the money to even play a unicipal course. Most of us took up golf in high school or college. I did only because the football coach asked me too because no one else wanted to play on a golf team for the school and we were supposed to have a golf team.

To get to the pros in any sport now, you need to start in pre-school.

Now there are lots of kids who have been playing golf since age 4 or 5 and playing sub par golf in their early teens. Tiger's winning now because he still has his youth and has gained tremendous experience. Look at women's golf - Tiger's time is running out.

Wow. I do agree with you that Tiger was one of the first players raised to play the game. Just like Phil, DLIII and some of the others. You may be right. We may see guys shooting in the 50's in the near future. However, it will take a lot for someone to match Tiger's skill, athletic ability and most importantly his focus and mental toughness. There are very few guys in sports history that are true killers like Tiger. One of the few was Jordan. There may be guys that have come along with the athletic ability he has, but not the single minded focus on winning. Wade, Kobe and LeBron are all great talents, but none have what Jordan had.

To say he is just simply the best of a bad group is silly. This guy dominates like nobody ever has. His reign will last for as long as he wants it to. He is still in his early 30's. Most guys don't peak in golf until they are in their mid 30's. He has shown nothing in the last year that would lead me to believe the end is near.
