Day 2, May 5 2026. I went to putt today; my usual make-24 drill. Scored a 35 from 4' and 58 from 6'. Those scores both beat the bogey player baseline; I wish I had numbers for something between a scratch golfer and a 90-golfer available for me (I might be able to infer them from ShotScope?). Either way, I'm happy with that performance. From 4', 3 coins came up on the second pass and another 3 on the third. One of these days I might make 12 in a row, which is something I'd like to see 🙂

It is, but it's better than it was a couple of months ago. Last time I played, I was basically just living with aiming it down the left side and letting it drift back. I hit 11/13 fairways and the two I missed were one with thick trees down the left and room right and it landed in the fairway and kicked out and one where I lost a bit of focus and forgot what I was doing and missed it in a right trap. If I can get my arms lifting how they're supposed to, I think I'll have more room and be able to get the club down more before the rotation kicks it out again. Club is slightly outside the hands at P6, so still a bit to go, but I'll get there.

Haters will say steep, but I think you have exceptionally educated hands to play at scratch.

At address, I started to lean the shaft of my irons forward. This immediately resulted in better compression and more distance (add some 10-15 yards on each iron). Feels great, feels like I'm make better contact. But I'm also pulling it, it's going dead left. When I examined my club face at address, with the shaft leaned forward, I can see that it's closed, so it makes sense that I'm pulling it. So it seems that leaning the shaft forward at address inadvertently closes the face. Is this true? If so, and if you insist on leaning the shaft forward like this, can/should you just correct by also opening the face a little at address?
