Got some great new Callaway stuff for my bag. (Pictures below)

Today my FT 2 Hybrid came in. Had a chance to hit a few on the range. Blasted on it. Straight, draw, or fade, it seemed to want to be a good sport and play along with me. (Grafalloy Blue X)

Yesterday I got my FT 3 Wood. Looks a little stocky to look down on, but , after taking it out on the course for its first test run that didn't seem to matter much. Hit it off the tee about four times. Great solid feel and sound to it. Crushed it. Had one shot from a funky lie in the rough on a par 5 and nailed that pretty well too. (also Grafalloy Blue X)

About a week and a half ago I got my C Grind 58* wedge. Whao, ball eater! Its a funky split bounce style sole. Still trying to get used to that. I think I may have to shave it down eventually. Nice to look down on for all shots from lob chips to full shots. So that's a positive.

Got a few sleeves of the new TOURix ball too. Pretty damn nice ball. Great feel off the face for iron shots and off the putter too. I did get to hit a full shot with my 58* and it didn't get chewed up nearly as bad as the other balls I used with it.

That's the best part. I'm the Callaway Staff guy at my club. I get it for free. One of the perks of working at a club. (Although there is that saying that "nothing in life is free") I am signed to a one-year contract to use just their stuff. I don't mind as long as they keep making clubs they way they've been making them.

Ben,
I've been using my War Bird 4+ wood for about 10 years and despite the fact that it's been old reliable I'm thinking of making a switch to a new FT fairway wood. Probs either a FT 4 wood or a FT Tour 15. Your thoughts?

I love my War Bird off the tee, but am looking for a little higher ball flight when hitting off the deck.

Ben,

I'm a club short of 14 now that I only use two wedges, so I decided to add some distance to my long game by replacing my 4 wood with the 3 wood and 2 hybrid. I don't have quite enough experience with the 3 wood to tell you about how high or low I can hit it yet. From my first experiences, I would tend to think I'd be able to hit it high, but not quite like my Mizuno 4 wood. If its a 4 wood you're already used to, I would replace it with another 4 wood. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

I haven't seen the new irons, but, we are having a demo day next month. I'll be sure to try them then. I may be in the market for some new irons, maybe these might fight the bill?

This doesn't have anything to do with performance but I think Callaway finally got a nice look on their woods and hybrids with the FT line. Good to hear you like how they play.

the callaway x forged(which i'm pretty sure you're talking about) sound right up your alley. All the callaway tour players use 'em. I've never hit them, but they sure look great.

How often do you get new Callaway toys? Also, do you sell any of the equipment once the season is over? Donate it?

I ask because although our course won't sell the equipment they get, they do allow for us to use them whenever available.

Yeah, I know the feeling, just put a FT squareway 3W and 5W, along with the 3H and 4H in the bag . . . I also have the 2H but its out of the bag for now, also have the wedges . . .

Callaway is making great clubs right now, wonder why Rocco Mediate came back out of nowhere to be almost on top of the golf world, he's getting fantastic results with his Callaway clubs.

I just love these clubs, they do give an advantage, and of course the FT-5 or FT-I are top drivers. One day soon I may go all Callaway and get their irons.

Yeah, it's a great benefit signing a contract when you're an apprentice, getting the clubs that you want for free. I should know

    • Day 116 12-6 Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
