Thanks for confirming everything I said and being aside the point at the same time?

He didn't.

You said Daly was a draw. He showed how he isn't. You said he "kills it" off the tee. He doesn't.

How did Daly even qualify for this? Don't feel like googling. I actually feel a bit bad for Daly now. He's mostly just a sideshow a this point, albeit a well paid one, I suppose. His troubles have been publicly aired so many times.

Because he’s a previous  winner. Daly isn’t much to watch anymore as far as the PGA TOUR goes. He’s a short knocker next to those guys. I don’t really agree with allowing him to use a cart. It’s a sport. If you can’t play as everyone else then that’s the breaks. And ‘osteoarthritis’ is a pretty weak argument for ‘medical exemption.’

It's not a medical exemption; it's a disability under the ADA.

Please, let's not re-litigate cart usage all over again... been there, done that with Casey Martin.  Just hoping Mr. Daly can carry some beers and a boom box on his cart.  Toting an American flag, as well.  Can't you just picture it?!

Agree.  All he needs is for the field to fold like they did at Augusta!   :-D

Championships go to the "non-folders".

Yes it is. He filed for a medical exemption under the ADA for the Senior Open and was denied. He’s not getting a cart through his ADA. He was approved for a medical exemption. I’m not talking about his life. Im talking about the golf tournament specifically.

And they got it wrong then.

It’s under the ADA. Says so right in the article.

“The PGA of America says Daly applied for the cart through its American with Disabilities Act policy and provided information for the medical staff to review.”

John Daly is being allowed to use a cart through a medical exemption. Says so right in the article. His using a cart is a medical exemption. That’s why the USGA has to review it and approve. It was denied at the Senior Open because he didn’t provide the necessary info they needed. If it was granted solely on being an ADA holder then he could use a cart whenever he wanted. He had to be approved and he was granted a medical exemption.

Those watching the PGA Championship later this month will take in an unusual sight, and not just because the tournament was moved up this year from August to May. For the first time since 2012, a competitor in a major will be using a cart, after John Daly was granted a medical exemption.

The USGA isn’t running the event.

The article cited doesn’t even mention the USGA.

Erik, Daly is playing with a cart through a medical exemption. I don’t care who’s running the tournament.

The problem with saying that is it was an exemption under the ADA (I haven't found an article that says otherwise). Which you can only qualify for with a disability under the ADA. A disability doesn't necessarily have to be "medical," either. It's a pretty well litigated statute, and I don't think the PGA of America, or any other golfing authority, gives them out lightly.

You keep taking about the USGA but that’s irrelevant. He’s playing under an ADA exemption.

Even the USGA cited the ADA.

The 53-year-old golfer has said he suffers from chronic knee pain.

So, why do you keep acting like it’s not an ADA thing?

If you’re trying to make some weird point about the difference between a “medical” thing under the ADA or a disability “thing” under the ADA, I don’t understand the point. All I’m saying is it’s under the ADA.

Like @DeadMan says, every article says ADA.

We ( I ) may have gotten caught up in semantics. If it was strictly an ADA situation then there would be no review of anything. He would be granted use of a cart automatically. He’s not and wasn’t. He still had to submit his case for review and then through a medical exemption he was granted use of a cart. I didn’t mean to say his osteoarthritis isn’t a disability. I meant to say his granted use of a cart was issued through a medical exemption.

None of this matters and I will shut up.

Okay. I just didn’t know why you kept saying it. I felt it must be important for some reason.
