Okay do lines colors and patterns constitute technological advances in the golf ball?
Taylormade has supposedly spent 3 years developing this. Including at least 18 months just working on the machine to print the pattern on the ball. 

Personally, I like the idea. Not sure it should have taken 3 years... 

I currently play Volvik Golf Balls because I can see them. As I am now pert near 50, the visuals definitely help me follow the ball in the sky.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I think these designs would be detracting on the green at least.  I mostly play TP5s, but have thought about switching to Volvik for the same reasons you mentioned.

Yeah, the colors.

Volvik has at least 10 colors that I find very easy to see in the sky, and like 3 of them I find easy to see on the ground.

That would be perfect camouflage when the leaves fall in autumn. :-P
