Depends upon from where the stroke was made.

1) When Ball Played from Putting Green Accidentally Hits Any Person, Animal or Movable Obstruction (Including Another Ball in Motion) on Putting Green: The stroke does not count and the original ball or another ball must be replaced on its original spot

2) When ball played from anywhere else. If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person or outside influence, the ball must be played as it lies,

Does another putter fall in the definition of "movable obstruction"? It's considered to be "equipment", but I'm unsure how it would be treated on the green.

If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person or outside influence:

  • There is no penalty to any player.

  • This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment.

From the Definition of 'Obstruction'

Player equipment, flagsticks and rakes.

    • Please do yourself the favor of learning the difference between a fact and an opinion. If you get to share your opinion… so do I. The only jerk here is you, man, with that last post. Personal attacks and name-calling without even remotely sticking to the topic. Cool.
    • OK, OK, OK, you are always right, and everyone else is always wrong, no matter how mild and qualified a thing they might say. What a frigging jerk.  I lurk here mostly, and only drop in to say something very occasionally. You are like this consistently, 100% of the time, no exceptions, a smarmy know-it-all horse’s rear end.
    • It's also a very small sample size and again, when they were playing some of the best golf of anyone in the world.
    • My point was that they were obviously simpatico, enjoyed playing together, and that surely contributed something to their good results. No more than that.
