I've always had a mental block in getting the swing started. When I put a club across my chest I can make a turn no problem but put the club in my hands and into position, I freeze. Should I be feeling like I'm just turning my shoulders which will get everything else going or is there anything else I can do to get the swing started?

Keep moving... don't freeze, even for a micro second.

There are tons of ways for people to get the swing started. My sister does the butt waggle.  Looks ridiculous and it started as a joke but it gets her just loose enough to make a good swing.

Throwing out random ideas/thoughts: If thinking about hands/torso makes you freeze, then try starting with the hips; could try not thinking about body at all and watch the clubhead go back along a line/circle around the body and imagine the swing plane you want to follow; Could try waggling the clubhead a few times to get loose, then pull the trigger; could try taking practice swings with your eyes closed but imagining looking at the ball.

I maybe use a small forward press with my hands. Not a big deal for me. I may not even do that everytime to be honest.

About the only thing I focus on to start my swing is my weight forward, and my  one piece take away.

My one piece take away, gets my shoulders, upper arms, elbows, and forearms working together. Where they go, my hands follow. This also helps me get to the top of my swing correctly.

If I am at the top of my swing correctly, I usually get back to my impact position correctly.

Obviously I have to move other body parts correctly in my down swing. I am not an arms only swinger of the club.
