how many of you joined both online sites?

I did, and now the merger has removed several perks šŸ˜ž

I joined for the discounts in booking tee times; not all the other videos, vacation info, etc....

now I'm disappointed.Ā  Ā NBC which already owned golfnow, purchased teeoff, last year.

They had promised to keep the entities separate with their own booking policies....

But I think the shelter-in-home shutdown most courses for last two months...

and when revenues decreased, NBC had to re-org and merge.... and layoff bunch of employees šŸ˜ž

yes, that handwriting was probably on the wall... but catalysedĀ with co-vid-19

just venting,

If I use one it is always TeeOff. It doesn’t charge you the $8 fee like Golfnow. Usually I’ll use the course app or book it online. If I’m feeling really frisky I’ll actually call the course.Ā

I checked a local course today, Golfnow was more expensive than using the course's website.Ā  I've used both sites but usually avoid them if I can find a better deal.

Yes, shopping around pays off. Ā Calling a course almost always yields a similar or better result than relying on the website or GolfNow (Hot Deals excepted).

i was told by a course manager that GolfNow gets 100% of the Hot Deal green fee. Ā That is the payment they get for running the booking operation. Ā I decided to not sign up for Hot Deals and call courses more often.

Yikes! I'll be avoiding that going forward, thanks.

in the SF bay area, I estimate 90+ % of public courses use golfnow or teeoff.

previously, we had others ( EZlink, golf707, et al...) but these have been assimulated....

I find online rates, are slightly lower that retail rates at courses. (however I concur that shopping is wiser)

since the merger, I suspect there will be no more competive online pricing.

and some perks have already been removed.

in CA, two online voucherĀ services offer good rates -- only for specific courses.

these are Clickit golfĀ  and golfmoose.com

ps:Ā  ask if there are any birthday discounts....

you might find a free round availableĀ  !!!!

I avoid GolfNow with the exception of Hot Deals, and I was not aware that TeeOff was bought out.Ā

I had actually just booked a Hot Deal at a local course about an hour ago. Green fee was $25, plus $3.49 in fees and $2.18 in taxes. TeeOff has the remaining 2 spots for the tee time (I only purchased 2 out of 4) for $27, with no fees, and $2.02 in taxes.Ā

I checked several other courses and TeeOff was consistently $2 higher than GolfNow. So it appears that while they are keeping with their no booking fees policy, the are still getting some/most of that money by charging more.Ā

That’s interesting because where I am the prices with both are the same. The only difference is the fee golf now charges.Ā

    • Day 105: mirror work today. Focused on not looping my hands at the top of the swing. Straight down.Ā
    • Still working on the backswing a bit. Hand still gets away from the body, out towards the ball, and at A2 the club wants to roll over and get flat at A3. It's just very difficult to shallow from that position like I want. Which makes my downswing work impossible.Ā  Backswing I have been playing around with the left leg straightening to start the backswing. It's like, a slight shove of the hips right with the left leg. Then just keep the flex in the right knee as I turn into it. I kind of like it. I never had a good swing trigger. It helps keep my left knee extended.Ā  Yea, definitely feeling the hand path isĀ traveling down the feet line, and straight up. A little bit of wrist rotation, and a lot more hinge sooner in the right wrist and elbow. I am trying to get the feeling that the arm hinging up then is the cause for the right shoulder to retract to finish the backswing. Club feels much more vertical at A3. I am trying to have my wrist fully hinged by then.Ā  Feel the club and arms stop at A3.5 (my A4). If my arm collapses late, then I turn into that and I am pretty much screwed. The club and arms kind of have a floaty feeling, where they are just suspended in air for a bit, then drop.Ā  Downswing I have been trying to think of a good visual for this mentally. I like the idea of my hands taking a wide arc to my right pocket, or I am taking the back of the hosel and trying to hit the groundĀ behind my right foot. Ā Ā  Left knee stuff, just sooner.Ā
    • Day 78 -Ā 2026-03-10 Backswing work at the net with foam balls, a few real ball swings.
    • Day 525 - 2026-03-10 Got some work in before lessons today (was going to play after but it decided to POUR). Then like three minutes in later on.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 26) - Worked on weight shift feel using slap stick drill (hands about 6ā€ apart - coming back weight on trail foot - down - thru weight on lead foot….moved it to hitting chips w/9i playing what I call ā€œleap frogā€ - hit 1st about 10yds, the next a couple past the 1st, for about 6 balls total. Ā Love it as the lies change, the distances vary making each swing slightly different.Ā
